December 2018
Happy Holidays!
We hope you enjoyed a restful time with your family and loved ones. Hopefully the break gave us all a great chance to reflect upon our hard work throughout the year as well as our goals for the remainder of the school year. We are happy with the increased communication Alma has provided as well as the positive feedback on the new grading system. Students appear to be very invested in their work and are taking a proactive role in their education. As we move forward throughout the year, we hope to continue with this positive momentum.
Food Drive
The MVMS Holiday Food Drive was a huge success. We collected hundreds of food items to be donated to the Capital Region Food Program. While all grades had a strong showing in the donation competition, the 6th grade was victorious in collecting the most food. They enjoyed their prize during the Spirit Rally Assembly when they got to pie Mrs. Kilimister and Mr. Lynch!
Band and Choral Concerts
The band and choral concerts were another great success. Great job to all of the students involved in the music program! Thank you to Mr. Livernois and Ms. Costa for your hard work and dedication!
Coding Finals
On Saturday, December 15th, the middle school had a fantastic showing at the Cyber Robotics Coding Championship held at UNH. Out of forty-four total teams, eighth graders Alyssa and Ishmael finished in 15th place, and sixth graders, Ethan and Beckett finished in 17th place! Thank you to Mrs. Herrmann for all of your time and dedication to the coding team.
Spirit Week
Spirit Week was another huge success this year. The staff and students enjoyed a week of having fun and laughing with each other. Thank you to Mrs. King and the Student Council for your efforts in making this week a success!
Here is a look at the themes throughout the week:
- Monday - Movie Characters
- Tuesday - Ugly Sweater
- Wednesday - Wacky Socks
- Thursday - Throwback Thursday
- Friday - Dr. Seuss Day
2018 Geography Bee
Congratulations to Marshall for winning the school wide Geography Bee! Marshall will take an assessment to qualify for the state meet. Good luck, Marshall!

Bus Announcement
If your child takes the bus home after school, please remind them to get on the bus at the middle school. Middle school students are not allowed to walk over to the high school to get on the bus. This has been an increasing concern as more and more middle school students are congregating at the high school to board their bus. Thank you for your support with this!
Important Documents
This year, MVMS will not be sending home printed copies of the Free and Reduced Lunch or Dental Clinic paperwork. These forms can be accessed by clicking on the below links. PRINTED COPIES ARE AVAILABLE AT THE MAIN OFFICE UPON REQUEST. Links to all important paperwork can be found on the MVMS website under the Documents and Forms tab.
