Eisenhower Fly-er
September 17, 2017
Message From Mr. Holcombe
Our school year is in full swing and our students are settling into routines and procedures. Routines and procedures establish expectations and consistency that lead to student success and positive feelings about the ability to accomplish.
One routine we participate in daily is reciting the Eisenhower Pledge. The Pledge is a set of beliefs we want each of our Eisenhower community members to embody in order to make our school a healthy, nurturing, and high achieving place to be. Our pledge is:
I am an Eisenhower Eagle with many gifts. Today I will bring:
Effort and a strong work ethic
Attitude that my actions matter
Generous spirit of respect
Love of learning and love of others
Excellence to all I do
Spirit of pride in myself and our school
Because “We” are Ike and “We” do it right!
Mr. Walt Ralph was the driving force behind our pledge and is strongly involved in helping with the formation of our building culture. We are excited about what he brings to our students, staff and Eisenhower community. Mr. Ralph created a form outlining our guidance program here at Ike and it is attached below.
Another person that is involved daily in the formation of our building culture is Mrs. Nadolny, our Curriculum Coach. Mrs. Nadolny works daily on building initiatives related to curriculum and achievement. She works individually with teachers and with teams to develop policy and create strong curriculum protocols. She has been crucial to the development of the 5/6 curriculum and philosophy here at Ike.
I am thankful for our staff here at Eisenhower and will continue to share their caring and achievements with you as we highlight the caring and achievements of the students they serve!
Sincerely,
Tim Holcombe
Students, Parents, Staff and Helping Hands Committee Support Hurricane Victims
This past week, we held a collection for funds in order to purchase school supplies for students at MacArthur High School in Houston Texas. Thank you very much to our students, families and staff for donating $300 for the students at MacArthur! This is an excellent example of how the Eisenhower community cares for others. Thank you for your help!
Below is a photo of students who helped with our collection.
Choir Club is Back!
Mrs. Reinhart does a very nice job each year with Choir Club and we are gearing up for another year of singing! Our first day of Choir Club will be Monday, September 25th.
A permission slip is below. If your child would like to participate, please have him or her bring the form to the office or to Mrs. Reinhart.
Ike's First Movie Matinee is Coming!
The cost is $5.00. The permission slip and $5.00 are due by September 19th. Registration after the 19th will be $8.00.
A flier is attached, as is a permission slip.
5th grade students will be picked up in the library and 6th grade students will be picked up in the Music Room or Band Room.
We would love to have your child join us!
Other News
- We are collecting Box Tops for Education again this year. If you are willing to save those and donate them, we would be very appreciative. We will have several turn-ins throughout the year. There is a collection sheet below.
- You can pay for lunch through Power School or your child can bring a check to the cafeteria in the morning as soon as he/she arrives at school.
- If you have any outstanding fee or would like to add money to your student's lunch account, you can do so at any time with EZ Pay.
- If you are not receiving this Fly-er to your preferred e-mail address, please go into InfoSnap and update your information.
- We allow students who have a dress code violation to pick some clothes from the nurse's closet so they can get back to class. This occasionally save a trip by parents. We also use these clothes for students who have emergencies. We are in the need for girls' clothes (sizes 10--16) and boys' clothes (sizes 14--16) and larger shorts. We can also use smaller numbers of other sizes. If you have some to donate, please send them into the office. Thank you!
- Birthday celebrations occur daily on the morning announcements and students are called to the office for a birthday greeting and pencil. This is how we celebrate at the Intermediate School. We try very hard to make it equal and meaningful. This is certainly a transition from treats, singing, etc. that may occur in other settings. However, it is a good, solid transition to the Jr. High. We will continue to explain policies and how they fit into our mission of transition throughout the year.
