6TH GRADE EMPOWER MEETING AT OPEN HOUSE FROM 4:30 TO 5:30 PM
Informational meetings at 4:30 and 5:30 in the IMC (2nd floor)
MARCHING BAND MEETING AT OPEN HOUSE FROM 6:00 TO 6:30 PM
Thanks to the tremendous support of our principal, Mr. Martinez, we are able to offer Marching Band as an extra-curricular activity. This is open to all interested band students in grades 6th thru 8th. No audition necessary. The Marching Band will be from 1:30-4:30 p.m. on Friday afternoons. We will have an informational meeting from 6:00-6:30 p.m. on Monday, August 21, where we will share the schedule, expectations and how you can become involved!
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
If able, we need volunteers to help with magazine sales and concessions. More information is below. If you are able to help with either of these, or have any questions, contact Jackie Mason, volunteer coordinator, at jmason@cr.k12.ia.us; 319-213-7612.
Magazine Sales. This is McKinley's largest fundraiser. All monies go directly to McKinley and are used to support student activities such as field trips. We need a chair (could be a couple or three people) and volunteers to help count money. (Sept 26 and Oct 3).
Concessions. All monies go directly to the activities fund. In the past some of the money has helped purchase TV monitors for announcements. We need a chairperson, volunteers to help pop popcorn, and volunteers to help supervise students working the concessions booth at sporting events. Booth is positioned so you can watch the game if your student is participating.

Meetings. Most meetings are held the second Monday of each month (September thru May). The October and February meetings are in the evening. The first PTA meeting will be on Monday, September 11, at noon at McKinley. The second meeting will be on October 9, at 6 pm at McKinley. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Be sure your student has a current physical and concussion form on file. To check, call the clinic at 558-2519 after school starts.
