It has been a year of exciting events, amazing performances both on the stage and in the classroom, and great representations in local, statewide and national competitions. We are so proud of the work our students have done this year, and we look forward to next year!!
May 29th will be an early release day at MSA. We will be dismissing all students at 2:30.
An important note, backpacks are not allowed on the last day of school. Please do not send your child to school with a backpack on May 29th. Backpacks brought to school will be confiscated in the morning and returned after school if a student brings a backpack to school.
MSA dismisses early ONLY on the last day of school.
Please contact us if you have any questions... thanks!!

MSA Offers Opportunity to Enhance College Application/Resume:
Want to add some pizzazz to your student’s college or employment resume? The German-American Partnership Program (GAPP) is offering MSA students a chance to participate in one of this country’s premier student exchange programs. GAPP is a State Department endorsed exchange with a registered “sister” school in central Germany. This year, German students will spend about two weeks in the Palmetto area in October, 2018, while MSA students will go for two weeks to Germany in June of 2019.
MSA students can get more information on how to participate in the exchange by contacting Vickie Kazanski at 813-389-4420 (text or call), or by contacting the MSA office and asking for additional information. We are looking for students who are interested in going abroad, as well as families who are interested in hosting a German student while they are here.
Once you participate, don’t forget to add it to your application or resume. Both colleges and employers are looking for that “something more” from its applicants, and the prestige of participating in a GAPP exchange is an eye-catcher!
Summer Opportunity for MSA Students
MSA will provide Pre-Employment and Transitional Services this summer to a select number of students. The first 20 students with a completed registration form and essay will be accepted.
The 2018 Summer Youth Program will provide Pre-Employment Transition Services to students with a 504 Plan, an Individual Educational Plan (IEP), or other documentation of their status as a student with a disability. These services help prepare students between the ages of 14-21 for transition from high school to post-secondary education, training or employment.
Students must participate in this program for a mandatory 50 hours in order to complete it. The Summer Youth Program will be offered during the month of July as a stand-alone service, or in a combination of services for each student participating in the program. The service areas below are examples of what will be provided during the program.
- Job Exploration Counseling
- Post-Secondary Educational Counseling
- Workplace Readiness Training
- Work-Based Learning Experience
- Self-Advocacy Training

Attention 6th Grade Students - Shot Updates Required BEFORE starting 7th Grade
The State of Florida requires proof of immunization for all students entering 7th grade each year. This proof must be on the official State of Florida Immunization Form (DH680... the Blue Card) which is obtained from your doctor's office or the Health Department. The following immunizations must be documented on this form:
* Tetanus, Diphtheria, and acellular pertussis (Tdap) - This is the update shot that you need for 7th Grade.
* Hepatitis B vaccine series
* Varicella vaccine or the year of disease
* Two doses of MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella)
Please see your doctor or the Health Department for more information and to assure that your child has met these requirements. This documentation must be submitted to the school before the first day of school next year (August 13). Students will not be allowed to come to school until these shot requirements are met. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
