Sculpting with Masa
Ms. Mullen's Elementary Spanish class read this bilingual book about a young chupacabra who won’t eat anything but goats. The goat’s abuela (grandma) decides to make cabras (goats) out of plantains to get him to eat. After the reading students tasted a variety of plantain chips. Then they sculpted animals out of masa, which is cornmeal from which tortillas are made. Stay tuned for a future activity, when they will make and eat corn tortillas!
