Mural Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
"Sun to Sun"
Mt. Everest Academy's very own 133-foot long mural, "Sun to Sun," welcomes both students and neighbors alike to an accepting, colorful and transformative campus. Led by Isabel Halpern of ArtReach San Diego, students learned about the process of mural making from start to finish. Before painting on the wall, a small committee of 8th-12th grade students helped with design input by creating their own mural drawings and by offering themes that reflect MEA. Students dove deeper by exploring a variety of painting techniques and by creating custom color palettes that were used when choosing colors. The painting of the wall itself extended beyond the student committee, into over 50 people having a direct hand in the painting: younger students, neighbors, staff, and families. "Sun to Sun" celebrates collaboration, transformation, growth, acceptance and community.
Senior Prank
Beautifully executed through the power of post-its and some creative seniors!
