TAWANKA TIMES
KINDERGARTEN
Kindergartners in Mrs. Piccinetti's class are learning to be thankful everyday!
Miss Trotta's class worked to build a turkey this week! We created turkey feathers using tangram pieces! Students also used turkey feathers to show different ways to make 5! Have a wonderful break everyone!
FIRST GRADE
First grade had a fun feast in the pod with a reading, a song and sharing what we eat for Thanksgiving.
SECOND GRADE
Second grade learned about force and motion while engineering a maze for their turkey to escape the great chase. Parents even joined in the assembly of the mazes.
We all had fun testing out everyone's great ideas.
THIRD GRADE
The third graders said goodbye to their crayfish and beetles this week, and are now preparing to start their unit on Earth Materials. They have been researching famous landmarks and designing a tourist brochure for that landmark in Social Studies. In Math, students have been collecting data and making their own graphs. They have also started to learn how multiplication works, the properties of multiplication, and have been practicing their facts. Some disguised turkeys have decorated the third grade pod in hopes to get everyone excited for the Thanksgiving holiday!
BOOK DISCUSSION
Fourth grade students from Mrs. Gartenmayer's homeroom demonstrate how to conduct a Junior Great Books discussion to the third graders in Mrs. Millevoi's class. Thank you to Riley Weir, J.P. Krawczyk, Chloe Coombs and Isla Cundari for giving up your time to provide a wonderful example of how to conduct a shared inquiry discussion.
FOURTH GRADE
The fourth grade students have recently finished reading the book Wonder, and are working collaboratively to color and create the smaller parts that will be put together to create a Wonder Agamograph.
AMERICAN EDUCATION WEEK
SWPBS
Building Positivity through play and Sportsmanship is what was accomplished during the staff/ student football game on Monday afternoon. Staff members played the student Super Bowl Champs and had a great time completing many awesome plays and just having fun interacting with each other. But in the end the staff took the lead with a 9-6 win!

NUTRITION
Thank You Giant Food Store (Street Rd.). We love grape tomatoes! We love that you care enough to donate fresh produce to us so we can sample delicious nutritious fruits and vegetables.
TITLE 1 FAMILY ENGAGEMENT
THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE
Thank you to all who came to our Tawanka Family Pasta Dinner! We served over 350 meals and fun was had by all. Your generosity in supplying all of those delicious desserts was a great help. Thank you to all who made cash donations as well! The donations ensured that our families facing tough times will have a happy holiday season. The dinner would not be possible without our very generous PTO, who donated all paper products and drinks and the Aramark Corporation donating the pastas, sauce, meatballs and salad.
We would also like to thank our Tawanka families for all the generous food donations we received. We were able to make 12 Thanksgiving baskets along with extra items for the food bank (Silo) at Neshaminy High School. We truly have a very generous community at Tawanka!
Thank you for your continued support!!
