BOOK WEEK
IDEAS FOR WHAT TO READ!
- Geneva School Library -- feel free to come in anytime and check out books for your child or bring in your child after school. Parents are always welcome to check out books to keep at home for your grammar school student's reading minute logs. We also keep copies of the grade level reading lists in the library, which is also a great resource.
- www.redeemedreader.com - this is a great website that lists current books and their reviews from a biblical worldview. The best site I have found for book reviews.
- Books Children Love, by Elizabeth Wilson - a great guide to the best children's literature
- 100 Best Books for Children, by Anita Silvey -- books listed by young, middle or older readers, and then title, author, and a short summary.
- Books that Build Character, A Guide to Teaching Your Child Moral Values through Stories, by William Kilpatrick. These are categorized by genre (fables, historical fiction, etc.) and the first five chapters of this book are invaluable as Mr. Kilpatrick does a beautiful job explaining why we should read good literature to our children.
- The Book Tree, by Elizabeth McCallum - a Christian reference for children's Literature organized by elementary, middle school, and high school. This book is a must-have!
