Springfield Public Schools Winter Learning Series
Plan to attend any or all of the events in the Winter Learning Series.
GOCSD has partnered with Springfield Public Schools to offer these five half-day learning events for K - 12 teachers being presented by the Springfield Public Schools Curriculum Coordinators during the months of January and February of 2018.
Seating is limited, so register early!
The series will kick off on Thursday, January 11 with Secondary Literacy
Facilitator: Hope Gallamore
Targeted Audience: Secondary Teachers
Participants will learn about new resources for secondary teachers that can be used in content area classes or in a stand alone reading course. Focus will also be on the workshop model and personalizing instruction based on student need.

Thursday, January 25 -Reader's and Writer's Workshop
Facilitator: Matt Rosebrough
Target Audience: K - 5 Teachers & Administrators
During this learning session, participants will learn how to effectively manage Reader's and Writer's Workshop. A review of instructional components for the workshop model will be included along with the exploration of resources.

Tuesday, January 30 - Math Workshop and Number Talks
Facilitator: Catherine Costillo
Target Audience: K - 5 Teachers & Administrators
Participants will learn how to use a workshop approach to teach mathematics with the focus of the components of the workshop model. In addition, they'll learn about number talks and explore resoures for implementing them in their classroom to build number sense and mental math strategies.

Targeted Audience: K - 12 Teachers & Administrators
Teachers and administrators who are new to PBL and want to learn the process, pedagogy, and purpose of project-based learning are invited to attend this event.

Friday, February 23 - PBL: Making it Personal
Facilitator: Amanda Bodenstein
Targeted Audience: K -12 Teachers & Administrators
Teachers and administrators who have a general understanding of PBL and are ready to begin personalizing learning through scaffolding, benchmarks, and assessments are invited to this event.
