PRAIRIE POST
May 29, 2020
Message from the Principal
Hello Prairie Families and Friends,
Thank you to so many of you who came out for supply pick up. It was so nice to see you and your families in person, even if it was only for a short time. Speaking of seeing one another in person, we're looking forward to the parade that will take place next week Friday! Our team can't wait to wave to all of the smiling faces. Make sure to check out the route to find out where you can see the Prairie Puma parade drive by! This week we had our first virtual recesses hosted by Coach Courtney, from Playworks, and Mr. Endsley. If you're looking for ways to get your body moving and have some fun, join us next week Tuesday and Thursday for virtual recess.
Enjoy the weekend!
Stay safe,
Carly Solberg

Social Emotional Learning
This week's SEL lesson included components from each of the last couple weeks. We talked about being mindful with friendships, and different strategies to use when interacting with friends. Topics included using kind language, using active listening, showing empathy and compassion, and filtering our thoughts. Additionally, we talked about how we can respond when a friend might be treating us inappropriately. Especially while living through this pandemic, it is important for children to connect with their friends and remind each other that they are not alone and friends still care for one another, even when they can't see them.
SEL Challenge
*Two weeks ago, the challenge was to safely connect with a friend. This week, do something kind for a friend by showing compassion (write a letter, draw a picture, or something else to show you care).
