Complete High School Maize
November 2022
A Note from Principal Hilliard
Hello, Wolfpack Family!
I cannot believe that we are at the end of October; as they say, time flies when you are having fun! We have had a great month at CHSM. We had a majority of our students get to participate in the incentive week for having four or more contracts completed - that is amazing!! Keep up the good work!! We also brought in five new students who we are happy to have. We will have graduations for Devin and Michelle very soon - congratulations to both of them! We also have four students who are working very quickly to graduate by the end of the semester.
We are eagerly anticipating the Halloween party on Monday, 10/31! SO MUCH work has gone into this; we have incredible parents!! The students and staff are looking forward to Monday. Thank you to the parent volunteers who are working and those who brought items for the party and also thank you to Sheryl and Liz for helping to organize. It takes a village and we have an outstanding one!
Important items to note:
- Thanksgiving Feast - This one is out of order because it is SO important!! One of the most exciting things we do at CHSM is our annual Thanksgiving Feast - this year marks our 24th year!! We will be cooking 16 turkeys and all the sides to go along with them. Be looking for your invitation. The students cook, serve, greet and run the entire day. We serve nearly 400 people. Students are asked to dress up that day - slacks, dresses, dress shoes (no tennis shoes or t-shirts - even if they are new). If your student needs help with clothing for the feast, please contact the office and we can help out.
- All Day Field trip - Will be on a Wednesday in November instead of Thursday - it will be Wednesday, November 2 - we will be attending a college and career fair and the Cosmosphere!
- District Site Council meeting - Tuesday, November 1st - MPAAC - 6:30-8pm. I will send a reminder to our current Site Council Members. If you are interested in being a part of this, please contact me at mhilliard@usd266.com.
- CONTRACTS DUE - The first set of contracts are due on Thursday, November 10th! One contact for each block class is due. Build Your Bank is on the monthly calendar - this is a great time to come in and get caught up on work - or to get ahead!
- 3:00pm Week - Is the week of Nov. 14-17 - the PM bus will not run. There will be no Build Your Bank on the 18th
- No School - There will be no school the week of November 21-25! We will see you again on the 28th!
- Attendance - we see so many of you working hard every single day to be here - keep it up! An attendance contract will start once a student accumulates 1395 minutes of non-productive time (there are some students who will begin at 900 minutes and they know who they are). The easiest way to not be put on an attendance contract is to BE HERE!
Once again, thank you for all your support and sharing your child with us.
Michelle
