BIRTHDAYS
Due to the rising number of students with food allergies and family (personal) food choices, students/families are encouraged to distribute nonfood items instead of snacks or treats.
Parents are also encouraged to speak with their child's teacher regarding when the birthday will be recognized.
If balloons or flowers are delivered for a student, they will be held at the office until the student can be sent to the office without interrupting instruction. After the child has seen the delivery, it will remain at the office until the end of the day. Singing telegrams, clowns and other performers are not permitted, as they disrupt the school day.
Hand delivery of birthday invitations at school is appropriate only if the entire class receives one, or if it is an all-girl or all-boy party and all of the given gender are invited. Please make all other party arrangements away from school.

Greetings Eagle Academy Families,
By now, we're sure you have heard that the Anchorage School District (ASD) is currently reconciling a 68 million dollar budget shortfall. The Superintendent and his administration have recommended closing six of its elementary schools. Along with the closures the administration has also suggested repurposing plans for those schools. One of the suggestions included Eagle Academy moving to Birchwood ABC.
Please know that any news or editorial articles, conversations you hear in public, or comments you read online via social media are most likely opinion and assumption. The authors of those pieces have not reached out to our school nor do they represent the intentions of our Academic Policy Board (APB)
Our APB wants to assure our school community that we have been monitoring the ASD School Board and District Town Hall meetings. Additionally Principal Carroll has been in contact with ASD administration to gather information regarding the repurpose plan. The APB has not engaged in any discussion regarding this with ASD, and do not intend to do so until after the ASD School Board meeting later this month. Should the School Board approve the recommendation to close schools and the repurpose plans, our APB will engage our school community in discussions and seek input before making a decision.
Individual student scores, have been released and can be found in your Parent Connect portal. If you would like a hard copy print out of your student's scores, please contact your classroom teacher.
