Experimental Projectiles Pummeling Pumpkins
This Physics lab exercise done toward the end of October is to have students work in one of 6 teams of 3 or 4 students to practice launching a small piece of PVC connector toward the pumpkin mystery location on the second table. They collect data on the launch angle and thrust of launch from rubber bands attached to the two uprights clamped to the launch table ends. The pumpkins are removed during the practice launches that include plotting the launch angle in degrees (protractor work) and thrust measurements of how far back the projectile is launched from by the rubber band stretch distance in centimeters. Plus, measurements were taken of the PVC distance length for each launch of good looking projectile paths that resulted.

Attention elementary artists!
Mrs. Sink is participating in Artsonia, the world's largest collection of student art, published by teachers and students from around the world. Parents and family can view the art online, leave comments and order keepsakes featuring the artwork. When you order from Artsonia, they donate a portion to our elementary art program to purchase more supplies. If you are interested in participating, please email Mrs Sink, vsink@sandi.net. You will need to provide your child’s name, grade level, and your email address. Mrs Sink will then create an account for your child on Artsonia and upload artwork created during the Story and Craft Time as well as the Elementary Art classes. You can even upload work your child has done at home! You can then purchase items with your child’s artwork on them. Mrs Sink still has many coffee mugs, tshirts and magnets with her children’s elementary artwork on it. They are a family treasure!
