PRAIRIE POST
September 9, 2016
Welcome Back!
Families and friends, we are off to an amazing start at Prairie this year! The energy that is flowing through our building is a strong sign that we are going to have a great year together. There have been many changes that have taken place at Prairie from implementing a College and Career Focus, GE Day, 4K, S.T.A.R. position, The Declaration of Education, having all of our scholars present in their classrooms at 8:40 a.m., new grade level partners, recess/lunch adjustments and so much more. We know that the changes could appear overwhelming, but all of the changes were in the best interest of our scholars. We are unable to provide a high quality education without each and every one of you. We are so excited that you have entrusted your most prized possessions to us each and every day. We will not let you down. Thank you for all of your support!

Not to mention, by completing the Volunteer portion of the form you also earn a chance at our Monthly drawing and $100 grand prize in June!
PTA Meeting: Next Tuesday, September 13th is our first PTA meeting of the school year! We will start the night with
Pre-meeting social at 6:00 p.m. in the Library (yes, kids are welcome),
Hear from Mr. Griffin and get on with new business at 6:30,
Finish the meeting with an overview of how PTA operates for those who are new, and
Continue our social at Chili’s following the meeting until 10 p.m. (put the kids to bed and come on over).
Come for all or just a part of the evening-we would just love to see you!
The PTA also provides free Red Cross certified babysitters for your school aged children during the meetings starting at 6:30. The kids stay in the MMR (next door), go to the gym, or play outside depending on the evening and permissions of parents. Do you have a Red Cross Certified Babysitter at home who would like to earn $10 for working during the PTA meetings? If so, go to our SignUp Genius and hook them up!

Ice Cream Social: Our annual Ice Cream Social will be held Friday, September 16th from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gym. Our local Ice Cream & Custard stores will be sponsoring the event again this year! We will also be hosting area organizations that offer children’s services (Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, etc.) as were showcased at our curriculum nights in years past. Our Spirit Store, which will be freshly stocked with new merchandise and “SCRIP on the Go” will also be open.
We will need lots of scooping hands to pull this off! If you would like to help out setting up, scooping ice cream, stocking toppings, cleaning up, or wearing the “Big Cat” costume for a portion of the evening, please use our SignUp Genius here to lend a hand: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/30E0D4EADA622A7F94-icecream1
Since it is election season, the kids will also get to exercise their right to vote! There will be ballots for both the November Movie Night Movie and Family Fun Nights Out Locations.
It is also the first event to earn a Spirit Stick-so hurry in while supplies last!
