About Alan Turning

Alan Turing was born on the 23rd of June 1912, he was a computer scientist. He died on the 7th June 1954 due to cyanide poisoning it is believed that he committed suicide because he was made fun of for being a homosexual. At Bletchley Park in 1939 he helped crack the enigma code.

Why is he so famous?

Millions of people know Alan Turing to be famous because he was a main figure in cracking the Enigma code. The Enigma code was used by the Germans in WW1. Every night they sent out a different code, all the codes had a connected pattern. In 1939 the Enigma code was broken in Bletchley Park. This was one of the British highlights during WW1.
