Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead!
Buidling a better future in Belton
What is S.T.E.A.M?
S.T.E.A.M. stands for the basics of this sort of school. Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics are all factored into a project-based learning experience for students.
WHY is S.T.E.A.M. important?
Learning in a project-based environment gives students the opportunity to prepare for jobs of the future. Real-world issues are examined and students experiment with ways to solve those problems. Implementing a scientific process from start to finish in a collaborative environment assists students in cementing what they are learning.
What will a classroom look like?
While still being housed in one of the current elementary buildings, the STEAM classrooms will have more hands-on learning and group participation to problem solve. Often times, assessment is on-going and, therefore, formal testing is limited. Even thought the approach is different, the Common Core Standards will continue be the basis for learning.
Is STEAM New?
Some STEM schools date back ten years, so it is nothing brand new. For more basics on this type of learning and its basis, click on the link above and EXPLORE!!
