November 19 -- SIP Day and Thanksgiving Break
Tomorrow Friday, November 19, is a scheduled SIP Day in District 41. On eight SIP Days throughout the year, students in 1st through 8th grade will have early dismissal at 11:30 a.m. to allow time for building staff members to work on school improvement activities. Both Pre-K and Kindergarten students WILL NOT attend school on the November 19th SIP Day. Next week, November 22 through November 26 is Thanksgiving Break and all D41 school buildings will be closed. School will resume on Monday, November 29.
COVID-19 Dashboard
The District 41 COVID Dashboard is a way for the public to monitor both the number of positive covid cases reported for students and staff as well as the number of people quarantined in the district due to close contact with someone who has tested positive. The dashboard will be updated every Monday by the end of the day.
COVID-19 School Guidelines Update

Virtual Family Science Engagement Night
District 41 will be hosting a district-wide virtual K-5 Family Science Engagement Night on December 2, from 6 - 7 pm. District 41 Problem-Based Learning Coach Nick Papineau will be walking K-5 families and students through what science looks like in D41. Some approaches that will be presented include:
Working on science literacy and skills at home
Facilitating an engineering task for families
Talking about how the engineering design process is used here in Glen Ellyn with a guest speaker from the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s Willowbrook Wildlife Center
Participants will need about (20) 3”x5” note cards, a measuring tape or stick, and are encouraged to have writing materials to take any notes that you want to take or questions you might develop during the evening. This will be a great opportunity to do a fun virtual science event with your child/children from the comfort of your home!

Hadley Builders Club Penny War
Hadley's Pumpkin Penny War raised $1,043.73 for Lurie Children’s hospital. Students and staff collected the pumpkins and supplies, Builders Club provided the advertising, Hadley families and staff donated money, and the custodial staff helped with clean up and the displays. Thank you to everyone for making this event a success!

Hadley Students Compete in Science Competition
Twenty Hadley students competed in the Fenwick Science Competition and won 4th Place overall out of 26 schools and 382 total students. The following students won individual awards

Ezra M. - 19th Place
Steven H. - 6th Place

Vaccination Clinics for Kids 5-11
District 41 is hosting three COVID-19 vaccination clinics for students. Due to high demand, all three clinics are now full. If you were not able to schedule appointments with District 41 and you are interested in having your child/ren vaccinated, please contact your doctor’s office or other scheduled clinics in the community. You can also visit www.vaccines.gov to find the soonest available appointment nearest to your home. DCHD anticipates providing pediatric COVID-19 vaccination appointments and you are able to register your child with DCHD here. Once registered, you will be contacted via email for an appointment.
Holiday SHIELD Testing
SHIELD Illinois is providing expanded community testing prior to the Thanksgiving holiday on Tuesday, November 23 from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. (unless noted). Testing is free and you will receive results within 24 hours. CLICK HERE to set up an appointment (use agency code df5brbrj)

Letters To Santa Mailbox
On Wednesday, November 24, Glen Ellyn's very own Letters to Santa mailbox will return on the northeast corner of Main Street and Crescent Boulevard in downtown Glen Ellyn. Letters mailed by Sunday, December 19 will receive a response from Santa, along with a signed photo. Thank you to the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce and the Village of Glen Ellyn for providing and sponsoring the Letters to Santa Mailbox!
