District Update - April 23
Superintendent's Message
I am proud to report that we have successfully completed our first week of state testing! An incredible amount of work goes into these weeks, but our administration and staff work diligently to ensure students are prepared and supported from the first question to the last. And, as always, I am impressed with our students’ ability to overcome the stress of testing and put their best foot forward.
While testing mandates require time and focus from students and staff members, it is imperative to remember that our great daily work doesn’t stop. As can be seen below, there is no shortage of good news and great things happening in our buildings!
As I reflect on this school year, we are fortunate to have had much to celebrate. It is apparent that with the support and hard work of all involved, a community such as ours truly makes all things possible.
I am confident the momentum of our many successes will carry us through these last 28 days and into the summer.
Take care,
Dr. Willingham

Midview Local Schools Renewed as a Purple Star District
We are proud to announce that the Ohio Department of Education has renewed each of our building’s Purple Star designations. The Purple Star program, now established in over 30 states after first originating in Ohio, recognizes schools that demonstrate a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s armed forces.
This year, 72 schools joined Midview High School, Midview Middle School, East Intermediate, West Elementary, and North Elementary in earning the three-year renewal status. In Lorain County, Midview Local Schools is the only district to have all its buildings once again awarded this honor. Read the full story here.
Staff Appreciation Week
Teacher Appreciation Week is quickly approaching, and we would like to ask our community for help recognizing and honoring our staff! There are two ways to participate:
- Staff Appreciation Parade: Decorate signs, decorate your car, or simply just join us for an appreciation parade on April 30 at 12 p.m.! The parade will begin in the MHS parking lot, make a left on 57, and continue through Main St. into downtown Grafton. The parade will then make a left at the Library and loop back toward campus. You just might catch some candy or Middie gear if you attend!
- If your group or organization would like to participate in the parade, please email bwillingham@midviewk12.org!
- Messages of Kindness: Leave a short message of kindness to be shared with staff and on social media.
