Welcome to the Falcon Chronicles, a publication for Port Richmond School for Visionary Learning Families, Caregivers and Community.

Welcome back to in-person learning 5 days a week!
Cohorts A and B are expected to report to school 5 days a week beginning on Monday, December 7, 2020 from the hours of 8:30 am-2:00 pm. This also applies to those families who opted their child into "blended learning". All cohort D students will continue learning remotely.
Mandatory In-School COVID-19 Testing
In order for your child to return to in-person learning, you must submit the consent form for in-school COVID-19 testing. Mandatory in-school testing will occur weekly for a random selection of staff and students in all reopened school buildings.
If you have already submitted consent, we ask you to do so again, as the form has changed to reflect the weekly testing change.

- If you already have a NYCSA account linked to your child(ren): Log in, click your child’s name, click “Manage Account,” and then when a dropdown menu appears, click “Consent Forms.” Read the page, and then choose the consent option at the end for your child.
- If you do not already have a NYCSA account, you can create one right away! Contact our Parent Coordinator, Sarah Kawaling at 31R068@schools.nyc.gov to obtain your creation code.

Students in Grade 1 through 4 need consent for weekly COVID-19 testing in order to attend school in- person. If you decide that you don’t want to have your child tested, please fill out the Learning Preference Link to opt out into remote learning.
Arrivals Begin at 8:20 am
Arrivals Arrivals begin at 8:20 am. Students will not be permitted to enter the building prior to 8:20 am per COVID-19 Health and Safety Policy. Students who arrive by school bus will be escorted in the building by school staff. Walkers enter the building through the Fire Lane, expect 3K students that entere through their classroom door on Forest Avenue. | Stop and Drop in the Fire Lane Stop and Drop will begin at 8:20 a.m. Cars are to drive through the fire lane to Exit 2 where students will be greeted by Ms. McCormick and Ms. Kawaling.Cars are NOT permitted to park in the school parking lot. If you choose to walk your child to Exit 2, you must park your car off the school grounds. | Health Screening All who enter the PS 68 school building are required to complete a health screening every day. the health screening includes a temperature check using a wall mounted or hand-held thermometer, disinfection of hands with hand sanitizer and a screening of a few questions about potential exposure to coronavirus. Students who show signs of a fever (over 100.1) or cold-like symptoms, will be escorted tot eh Isolation Room and a parent will be contacted to pick up the child. |

SchoolFood Breakfast and Lunch Breakfast will continue to be delivered and served in classrooms by 8:30 am. We will begin to serve hot lunch to students no later than Wednesday of this coming week, and are scheduling small groups of students at one time to eat in the cafeteria. Caregivers may pick up meals for students learning at home from our main lobby between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm. | Feeling Sick, Stay Home If your child or anyone in your home is exhibiting any signs of illness including fever, fatigue, cough, sore throat, stomach ache, etc, stay home. Students can attend school remotely by signing into iLearnNYC. | Ready to Learn at Home at any Time Due to unique nature of the coronavirus pandemic, families need to be ready to transition into remote learning from one day or more. For that reason, all students are expected to have a personal device at home as well as school supplies to continue learning. A closed school building in no excuse for your child to not attend school. Request a device here. |

Ready to Learn at Home at any Time
Busing Busing is available in the morning and the afternoon. It is the preferred method of transportation for all students.There is a reduced number of students traveling on school buses to allow for physical distancing of students while riding. | DismissalStudents in grades K-4th will be escorted by their teacher at 2:00pm to the playground area where they can be picked up by their parents. Student in grades 3K and Pre-K with exit outside their classroom door at 1:55pm. | Late for Dismissal Any student not picked up by their caregiver by 2:00 pm will remain outside in the Fire Lane despite weather conditions. We are unable to accommodate the gathering of mixed groups of students from different classes. This is done as a precaution due to social distancing protocols to avoid students gathering in the hallway. |

We Promote behaviors that Reduce the Spread of COVID-19
Physical Distancing All individuals in school buildings should remain at least 6 feet apart. We will work with schools to create conditions that make physical distancing possible. | Face Coverings Face coverings are required inside school buildings. We have stock of masks to be distributed to students and staff to use when inside school buildings. | Handwashing and Hand Sanitizing There is increased access and regular opportunities for students and staff to wash hands or use hand sanitizer throughout the day. |
