Class of 2020 Drive Through Ceremony Information
Our entire staff is excited to join the celebration, and they will assist in a variety of roles throughout the day.
Here are the most up to date directions and information for the drive-through diploma ceremony for the Class of 2020.
There are many moving parts to this great event and with your patience and understanding, while waiting in line, this will be a memorable event for the entire NPHS community!
Please review all the information and restrictions in order to ensure that this event runs as smoothly as possible and is a memorable event for both graduates and family members.

June 12: Live Diploma Celebration
General Information:
Date: Friday, June 12, 2020
Time: 9 AM to 6 PM
Location: Borchard Park and Newbury Park High School
The event will be filmed and live-streamed. We will release the link for the live stream on Thursday, June 11.
Let's be respectful to all graduates and our community!
- Be respectful to our community by not throwing any trash out of your cars.
- Make sure all decorations are appropriate for the event
- When entering campus refrain from using the horn on your car or use artificial noisemakers in order for every graduate's name to be read and heard
- You can scream and honk when your graduate's name is called
- Remind all family members to remain in the car at all times.
- Remind family and friends that they cannot walk onto campus
- All cars need to follow the direction from the Thousand Oaks Police Department as directed
- Exit campus by turning right onto Reino Road in order to keep traffic and the ceremony route moving.

NPHS Diploma Ceremony Time Breakdown by Alphabet
June 12: Live Diploma Celebration Information Part 1
Specific details of the event. Part 1
- All students from the Class of 2020 are invited to receive their high school diploma and other awards during this drive-up ceremony
- All Seniors and family members should begin the route by entering Borchard Park off of Borchard Avenue
- All families should refer to the alphabet breakdown above for information on when to arrive to participate in the ceremony
- Graduates participating must be in a vehicle. They cannot walk on to campus.
- Cars will not be allowed to park on campus.
- Individuals will not be allowed to walk on to campus and view the ceremony
- Each graduate is allowed 2 cars maximum to participate in the event
- The administration will be verifying the names of students and their second car before they enter Borchard Park.
- The graduate must be a passenger in the car and not driving
- We are encouraging families to decorate their cars
- Oversized vehicles such as RVs, Limousines, Party Buses, convertibles, open-air vehicles, and other vehicles are prohibited and will not be allowed to enter Borchard Park to begin the driving route. Vehicles may not be towing any type of vehicle including boats and trailers.
- Thousand Oaks Police Department will be handling the traffic and directing families to enter the park
- Each graduate is required to wear a cap and gown for the ceremony and should be dressed in an appropriate manner
- If a senior needs to rent or purchase any Graduation attire, go to Jostens.com. If you would like to rent, please email John.Zavala@Jostens.com.
- All cars will follow a specific route through Borchard Park and then exit on to Reino Road
- Administration and security personnel will be directing traffic in Borchard Park.

June 12: Live Diploma Celebration Information Part 2
Specific details of the event. Part 2
- TOPD will have the first lane of Reino Road blocked off allowing all cars to move towards the campus
- All cars will enter campus by the school marquee and proceed through the teacher parking lot
- When each senior gets to the C gate in the teacher parking lot, staff members will be handing all seniors a custom mask, gloves, and a gift from the senior class
- Seniors should put on the mask and gloves
- All cars will then turn right on to the main drive-through at the front of the campus
- Seniors will be asked to step out of their vehicle and begin lining up to receive their diploma.
- Only the graduate may exit the car
- As students move forward six feet apart, each graduate will move up accordingly
- All cars will then be directed to veer left to the other side of the main parking lot in order to view students receiving their diploma
- There will be a designated spot where cars can stop to watch the graduate
- Students will walk to a designated spot and will confirm with the announcer how to pronounce their name
- When each student's name is called, they will walk up to an identified table and take the diploma cover that has been placed there for them.
- After taking the diploma cover, the graduate will proceed to a designated spot in front of the Panther sculpture and take a picture with Mr. Lepire
- A staff member will take a picture of each student that will be uploaded for parents to download for free
- The graduate must have their mask on for this picture
- Family members may roll their windows down and take pictures as the graduate is at the panther sculpture.
- Once the graduate leaves the Panther sculpture area, cars will be directed to proceed to the reunion location in the parking lot while the graduate finishes taking a professional photo and get their diploma and other awards.

June 12: Live Diploma Celebration Information Part 3
Specific details of the event. Part 3
- After receiving their diploma cover, students will proceed down the sidewalk following signs to maintain six feet of distance to take a professional photo with Monarch photography. The photo will be taken in a tent with an original background
- The Conejo Valley Unified School District is paying for the cost of the photo and it will be mailed to all graduates that attend the ceremony!
- After each student takes a professional picture, they will proceed down the sidewalk following signs to maintain six feet of distance and will let a staff member know who they are. An envelope will be placed on a table for the graduate to pick up.
- The envelope with contain their diploma, a graduation program, the Senior Panther Prowler edition and any other certificates they earned from senior celebration nights
- After receiving their envelope, students will continue to walk down the sidewalk maintaining six feet of distance
- Students will be directed by school staff or security personnel to follow a specific path to reunite with their family
- Once the student returns to their car, all cars will be directed to exit the parking lot through the center driveway.
- All cars must turn right onto Reino Road when exiting the campus
