Unit 4 Overview
Writing a Personal Document
Looking Back...
We are now more than one third of the way into CM107, and so far we have accomplished a great deal. By learning about reading comprehension strategies, we have not only identified ways we can improve our understanding of what we read but we have also gained insight into what it takes to be effective writers. By reading good writers and exploring what they do to write to and for their audience and purpose, we learn to be better writers ourselves. We also learned last unit that writing usually starts out as a MESS but that if we work through the steps of the Writing Process, start working on writing projects early, and take advantage of resources like the Writing Center tutors, we will be more successful in producing masterpieces that are clear, concise, complete and correct.
Looking Forward...What is Unit 4 About?
Here's what Donald Huddle says of revising in his book, The Writing Habit:
What's Due in Unit 4?
Here's this Unit's To-Do list. The following items should be completed by 11:59 PM ET on Tuesday, the last day of our unit:

Managing Your Time
Remember that while everything is due no later than Tuesday, you will reduce your stress levels, be more successful, and learn more in Unit 4 if you complete work throughout the unit. What's Next?
In Unit 5, you will begin the process of writing a more formal academic essay. Since you will be expected to write essays in many of your other college courses, this is an important skill to practice and master.
If you have any questions at all, let me know. Have a great week and I look forward to reading your Unit 4 Assignments. I know they will be focused and interesting and will showcase your skills!
