We are sharing 31 read along books for our younger scholars (pre-k to 3rd grade) and a chapter book and two titles for our older scholars (4th grade and up). These titles are written about Black historical figures, by Black authors, and/or with Black children as main characters.
Visit the school's PTSA website (link below) for a complete list of all the titles, with links to youtube read-alouds. All you need to do is to cuddle up and choose the book(s) you wish to listen to with your eager listeners.
Let’s celebrate Black History Month together by immersing ourselves into these wonderful books.

From our Registrar's Office: Ms. Arriaga
Friendly Reminder: Cut off time for early pick up is 2:30 PM
While we ask that all appointments be made as early or as late as possible, we understand that, on occasion, you may need to pick up your child early. If it is necessary for you to pick up your child early from school, the latest time that you may pick up your child is 2:30 p.m. After 2:30 p.m., please move to the car pick up line and follow the dismissal procedure. An appointment card will be needed to pick up students after this time. The reason we have a 2:30 p.m. cut off is due to safety reasons with dismissal. Our teachers are wrapping up the day's lessons, handing out information that needs to go home, and students are finalizing their assignment and/or homework.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in maintaining the safety of our students and staff.

Doral Staffing Update
Meet our school counselor, Ms. Eyhorn
My name is Mari Eyhorn, and I’m so excited to be a counselor at Doral Academy.
I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and have worked with children, adults, and families for over 14 years. I’ve helped people with various challenges (e.g., poverty, domestic violence, child abuse/neglect, substance abuse, mental health issues, identity formation, and cognitive, emotional, and learning disabilities) by building on their strengths and providing tools and guidance based on their needs. I’m so excited to be a part of Doral Academy and help students be safe, learn, and enjoy school life. It is also my hope to appreciate and support the staff who have such important and possibly very demanding jobs.
I met my husband in college, and we have two daughters, who attend a charter school in Austin! We enjoy hanging out with friends on the weekend. I like to read and try new things, though my new favorite thing is to get enough rest/sleep. I’m looking forward to getting to know you and supporting all of you. Thanks!
Welcome Mr. A, SPED Teacher
