Help Serve Thomas Students Hot Cocoa
Parents: We need some helpers to serve students cocoa as they enter school on Valentine's Day, Thursday, February 14th. This is a great way to start your day with love! If you can help, please email: ThomasPTSA@websterptsa.org and plan to meet us in the main foyer at 7am. It will take less than an hour and you'll have a blast.
Healthy Peer Relationships
PTSA is kicking off our Healthy Peer Relationships program at both high schools this month with a social media campaign highlighting the positive behaviors that promote healthy relationships. We are focusing on both friendships and dating relationships. Please share our posts: we are @WTHSPTSA on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram.
Here are a couple of tips we found to help kids navigate their relationships:
- Kids may not talk to their parents about problems with friends or dating partners because they don’t want us to have a negative opinion of the people they care about. To foster open communication, we should try not to put down their friends or dating partners, even when problems arise.
- When they share something, believe them, take them seriously, be supportive and understanding.
- Avoid telling them what to do.
You can learn more about the warning signs of unhealthy dating relationships at loveisrespect.org. Contact the Safe School Helpline (anonymous) if you have a concern about the health or safety of any student by dialing 1-800-418-6423 ext. 359.
We hope to help all our students develop respectful and positive relationships that will support them now and into their adult lives.
