Project help needed
Hi everyone, my Name is Anand Bhatt and I am going to be conducting the second phase of my eagle project on Saturday October 5. This project to improve the grounds at Turner Creek Elementary involves deconstructing an outdoor classroom and repurposing the wood to create a flower garden around the school sign as well as freshening up two exercise stations. Saturday October 5th is phase 2 of this project where we will execute the improvements to the sign area, fitness stations, and former outdoor classroom, which were all prepped in phase 1. More details about the project such as shift times and location can be found on the signup genius below. If you are able to come and help that would be much appreciated. Food and refreshments will be provided for everyone that can help. If you have any questions you can email me at anandpkb@gmail.com. Thanks, I hope to see you there!

Parking Lot Reminders
The law says that the only time pedestrians have the right of way is when they are in a MARKED crosswalk! The parking lot is NOT a marked crosswalk, therefore pedestrians DO NOT have the right of way! Please teach our students to be safe: Look before you cross. Make sure the drivers see you.

READ-a-THON is back!!!
The Turner Creek Elementary PTA is kicking off the 2nd annual READaTHON that will be run completely in house!!! That means that 100% of the money raised will stay at Turner Creek! The purpose of this event is to encourage our students to develop a lifelong love of reading while raising money to support our school. Each student is asked to make a personal reading goal over a 7 day time period. You choose which 7 days! We are looking for your support to help them make the “Leap into Reading” a success by collecting flat pledge amounts from family and friends to support our students' goals.
Help us keep our fundraisers in-house!
Please visit www.tce-pta.org/readathon-2019

PTA Needs Your help!
The Chair position includes arranging the date with the restaurant, filling out any required paperwork with the restaurant, coordinating the date with the PTA Board, publicizing the event via the Ribbit Report and Facebook, attending the event and/or ensuring we have PTA coverage, and following up to ensure we receive payment.
If you are interested in volunteering for this vital function, please contact Maggie Demicco at fundraising@tce-pta.org.
2019-2020 REFLECTIONS ART PROGRAM: “Look Within”
Pull out your paint, film, and dictionary. Dust off your camcorder and musical instruments, and put on your dancing shoes, it’s time for the 2019-2020 PTA Reflections Program! This program is sponsored by the National PTA and recognizes outstanding student works in six art areas: visual arts, literature, musical composition, photography, film/video production, and dance choreography. Children from all grades, from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, are welcome and encouraged to participate!
The theme for this year is: “Look Within”
If your child is interested in participating, please complete the Reflections information form that has been sent home to all students, and return it to his/her teacher as soon as possible.
If your child is currently tracked out, or if you you prefer to send your information via email, you can also email us the information that is requested on this form. Our contact email is: tcereflections@gmail.com.
Once you turn in the intent form, we will provide you the next steps that will need to be taken to participate in the Reflections program. For your reference, the Wake County PTA Reflections website that has more information about the program is:
http://www.wakepta.org/reflections-201819.html
We have been able to extend the deadline for when the artwork needs to be turned in to help accommodate for students that have been tracked out, and so the new deadline to have artwork turned in will be: Monday, November 4.
Our judging will be before the holiday break and the winning art will be sent to the next level of competition. We will have a Reflections Celebration later in the school year; details will be sent home closer to that time.
For any additional questions, please feel free to contact Kim Frederick, PTA Reflections chair, at: tcereflections@gmail.com. Thank you!
Send us Pictures for the Yearbook
Have you taken some great pictures of your children's in-school activities or field trips? The TCE Yearbook is looking for candid shots of students and staff to include in this year's yearbook. Please send pictures, along with the class name, to: yearbook@tce-pta.org. Please send pictures at a medium or large size so they can be reproduced well. If you have any questions please email drdocherty@aol.com or kathompson@wcpss.net.
Congratulations TCE Concert Chorus!
Carpool Safety!
As you exit carpool, please be attentive to the carpool divot that can throw your car off if your tire lands in it and may affect the precious humans that may be in the crosswalk!
We have had some recent close encounters with people driving and looking down at their cell phones!
PLEASE NO CELL USE while driving in carpool!

You can still clip these and send them to school. Just download the new Box Tops mobile app. Buy Box Tops products…..Scan your receipt….Earn cash for Turner Creek! A picture of the new label is pictures to the left.
Questions? Heather Holt, hnaholt@gmail.com
We earned $784 during the 2018-2019 school year!! The next Box Tops submission date is November 1, 2019. Please make sure they have valid dates (dated 11/1/2019 and beyond). If the Box Top is labeled between 3/1/2019-10/30/2019, we have to throw them away! The Box Tops collection bin is in the TCE lobby across from the main office. Box Tops are each worth 10¢ and they quickly add up to real cash for our school. Here is a link showing participating Box Tops products.
Clip Tyson Project A+ labels from participating Tyson® product packages and send them to school with your child. We’ll collect the labels and send them to Tyson Foods, and Tyson Foods will send our school a check. Each label is worth 24¢!
Please drop your Tyson Project A+ labels in the Box Tops collection bin in the TCE lobby. Here is a link for a list of participating products.

Help TCE PTA earn $100
Even if you have linked your Harris Teeter VIC card to our school in the past, you must re-link it each summer for the school to earn money when you shop at Harris Teeter. Last year, we raised nearly $600 simply by our families linking their VIC cards to TCE.
We currently have 59 families that have linked their VIC card to TCE. If we can reach 96 linked cards by October 16th, we can earn a $100 bonus check. Please help us reach this goal.
For detailed instructions on how to link-up, please visit
Fundraising while Shopping - Turner Creek Elementary - PTA
This year we are hoping to surpass our past income from these programs and use these funds to support our school. Every time you patronize one of the online or local businesses listed below TCE PTA benefits by receiving a monetary donation!
