Class of 2020
Graduation photo opportunity
Hello families,
As we continue to plan for Irondale high School’s virtual commencement on Monday, June 1 (more information can be found below), we are excited to offer the Irondale Class of 2020 an opportunity to have a full-length professional photo taken while wearing their cap and gown on Thursday, May 28. This optional photo opportunity will be offered at no cost and each graduate will receive a high-resolution digital image to print or share with family and friends.
The professional photographer will be taking photos outside of Irondale High School. Photos will be taken using a drive-through format to minimize contact with others. Please see the details and times for photos below. This will ensure that no large groups are gathering at once.
A-Ga 12:00-1:00
Ge-Me 1:00 - 2:00
Mi-St 2:00-3:00
Su-Z 3:00-4:00
4:00-5:00 any Seniors who could not attend their assigned time
Safety precautions
The safety of our school community is our top priority. While these photos are completely optional, please know that we are taking every precaution possible to keep you and your graduate safe.
These graduation photos will take place in a drive-through format to minimize contact with others.
The graduate will be the only person allowed out of the car. Graduates should arrive in cars with people who live in their household only (no ride-sharing). Once the car pulls up to the designated area, the student will get out of the car, have their photo taken and then get back into the car and drive off-campus. Photos may be taken from inside the car, but no one will be allowed to get out of the car to take photos, nor will photos be allowed at any other location on campus.
We will invite students at specific times based on the first letter of their last name in order to avoid large groups at once. Photo schedule by alpha is listed above.
The photographer will remain six feet away from the graduate and will be wearing a mask. Masks are not required for graduates or those who are waiting in the car.
If your student or a member of your family is not feeling well, stay home. We are offering at-home photos and the ability for students to submit their own photo for a slideshow to be shared at a later date. If you are interested in a photo at your home, please email irondale@moundsviewschools.org. If you are unable to attend or have other health concerns related to COVID-19, please let us know. We can arrange to take a photo of the student at home at a later date.
Virtual commencement details
Irondale High School will be hosting a virtual graduation event on Monday, June 1, at 7 p.m. This video ceremony will recreate many elements of our typical graduation ceremony, including visual and audio recognition of each individual graduate. We invite anyone interested to a live-streamed virtual watch party and invite families to watch the event simultaneously. You can find more graduation updates and the link to view the ceremony here.
In-person ceremony
Students have consistently told us they want some type of in-person event. We have tentatively scheduled an in-person graduation event for the evening of Thursday, July 30, at Roy Wilkins Auditorium for interested students and families. This is, of course, entirely dependent on safety conditions and recommendations from the CDC as the event date nears. We will share more information about this in the coming weeks and will share regular status updates as CDC recommendations evolve.
I hope you are staying safe and healthy,
Jeff Ridlehoover
Interim Principal
