Hackberry Howl
Vol. 2 No. 24
Respect is not just a song by Aretha Franklin!
At Hackberry we spend a lot of time teaching our students about respect. I've learned that the most valuable lesson we can teach our students is how to treat others with respect and dignity. In order to teach your student to treat others with respect and dignity, they must also be treated that way.
The most effective way to teach our students is by modeling the behavior you want to encourage. Every time you say “please” or lend a helping hand, you are showing your students how you would like them to act. Ask for your students help with daily tasks, and accept their offers of help. Praise your students good behavior and traits often, and help them realize how good it feels inside to do a good deed or be generous with another person. Thank them for being polite and respectful and for sharing and cooperating.
Students know from their own experiences that words can hurt, and that name-calling, teasing, or excluding others affects how people feel. Students want to be treated fairly, but they don’t always understand how to treat others the same way.
Let's challenge ourself to treat every students with respect and dignity regardless of how they are acting. Remember they are always watching our actions and the way we respond in difficult situations. Together we can all make an impact by showing/modeling for our students RESPECT!
Keep Howling!

Heart to Heart
1. Teachers need to be on campus by 7:00am. This means in the building (NOT pulling in the parking lot) we understand things happen from time to time but this should not be an everyday occurrence. If you arrive after the cones have been placed in the front you must park in one of the side parking lots. When you walk across the front is messes up the flow of traffic. The cones are placed out at 6:55 am, so if you would like to park in the front arrive before then.
2. Professional attire unless otherwise stated by administration. Monday you may wear jeans with a college shirt and Fridays with a spirit shirt. The only other days you may wear jeans is when admin has given you permission to do so. If you use a jeans pass that must be turned into Mr. Swartz (personally) before the start of the school day.
3. You must READ the weekly HOWL..This is how we communicate information with the staff and is extremely important you keep up with valuable information.
4. On time and ready for your daily duty. If you need to miss you MUST get coverage.
5. Read and communicate emails daily.
6. Be present and ready for all PLC's.
Please email me your favorite sonic drink as receipt you understand and will comply with these expectations. If you do not want a sonic drink simply respond that you read the email, but would not like a sonic drink.
