The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs offers Welcome and Information Sessions to help orient new and current postdocs. If you are a postdoc who is new to Rutgers, or just curious about the resources that are available to you, we strongly encourage you to register for an upcoming one-hour session.

This year the Rutgers Postdoctoral Association will celebrate its 9th Annual Postdoctoral Symposium!
The event is organized by Rutgers postdoc volunteers, for you!

Everyone is welcome to attend, postdocs and graduate students especially.

The symposium will feature:
- Three career panels: International PhDs in the US: Challenges and Advice, Research Careers and Non-Research Careers.
- Interview and Negotiating Skills for PhDs Workshop
- Research Poster Session (award will be given for the top two posters)
- The Science Art Show (award will be given for the best artwork)
- Keynote address by Dr. Adam Ruben, scientist, writer and comedian

Overview:
Active learning methods (e.g. case method, clickers, team-based learning) are designed to enhance student engagement and facilitate learning and understanding. They may be used to enhance traditional lecture or instead of it. This seminar will review several ways to do this in your teaching setting and describe advantages and disadvantages for each method.

Language connectED is requesting your participation in a quick survey designed to poll the linguistic and cultural needs for graduate, post-graduate, and faculty level researchers and scholars who use English as their second or third language.
This survey is anonymous and the results will be aggregated in order to inform our communities of practice of the unique challenges that international scholars face while using English for professional purposes. This survey is entirely optional; however, your response will greatly help us and your sponsoring institutions create and support programming to help you take your career to the next level.

Fellowships for Excellence in Computational and Data Science | Deadline: March 1

The Rutgers Discovery Informatics Institute (RDI2) is pleased to announce its Fellowships for Excellence in Computational and Data Science to support Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Associates in all areas Computational and Data-enabled Science and Engineering (CDSE), with a specific focus on research in Big Data and Extreme Scale computing for academic year 2018-2019.
RDI2will support up to three second and third year PhD students working on multi-disciplinary collaborative computational/data-enabled research projects that address more than one element of CDSE research.
Each fellowship appointment will be for one year and comes with $30,000 towards partial Graduate Assistant support for the fellowship year. The fellowship has potential for renewal, and includes allocations on RDI2’s research infrastructure (including Caliburn). Prospective candidates are expected to pursue novel and creative research avenues within existing research programs and faculty expertise in collaboration with an RDI2 faculty mentor. Faculty can submit applications for consideration on an ongoing basis.
Successful candidates are expected to start/continue their research as part of the RDI2 research community and to participate in the RDI2 research and other activities.
Applications should include: a 1-2 page project description written by Rutgers faculty, curriculum vitae of proposed student/fellow, and a statement on long term relevance of research and possible future funding agencies.
