Two Rivers Reading Council
Spring Edition
President's Letter
Happy Spring Everyone!! I know many of you are right in the throes of PARCC testing! Hang in there, Pampered Professionals is just around the corner! Thank you those of you who came to Roxanne Owen’s presentation in February on using Visual Images to help with discussion and writing in the classroom. It was a great presentation and I have implemented several of her strategies in my classroom that the students really enjoy. Check out this website https://www.nytimes.com/column/learning-whats-going-on-in-this-picture to get kids started writing about what they see in the picture. I use it as a morning activity and then we follow it up with a great discussion. As the year winds down, Two Rivers will host our final event, Pampered Professional, on April 12 at 5:00 p.m. at the Weber Center Olivet Nazarene University. Watch for the flier to come out soon with all the details! Come and be pampered!!
On a more serious note, Two Rivers Reading Council is also in need of some board members. We are looking for a treasurer and a membership chairperson. If you like to take care of money or recruit people then this is the job for you! Please contact me at cthroop@bradleyschools.com. We will be having an election soon. I hope you have a great rest of the year!!! I have learned a lot and have enjoyed being your President!
