A Message from the Principal
Dear Jaguar Families,
It is hard to believe we are already in the second month of 2022. This time of year brings a huge shift in our students. We truly begin to see growth in so many areas of their development. The continued partnership with families is crucial to every child's success. We appreciate your unwavering support and look forward to a great month.
Below you will find a summary of information in this Newsletter. I encourage you to read through it in its entirety so you can stay up-to-date on all of the February happenings.
- Parent/Family Satisfaction Survey-Below you will find a link for our district Parent/Family Satisfaction Survey. Please take a moment to fill it out. It will remain open until February 7, 2022.
- Spelling Bee Representatives-We had several students represent Wigwam Creek at this year's Spelling Bee. Check out the photos below to see some of our spellers "in action".
- Dress Code-The new dress code was presented to the board in January. Superintendent Gunning is sending out a letter during the first week of February informing families of the changes. I rolled out the information to teachers on Friday, January 28, 2022. Teachers will share the new dress code with students during the first week of February as well.
- Bullying Information-Each year at the beginning of the year we review bullying and the process for reporting bullying with each homeroom class. Teachers will show a video I created for students that reviews the definition of bullying and/or harassment; as well as the process for reporting bullying. The slideshow used in that video can be found below. Please use this link for detailed information and resources on this very important topic. This link is available at the bottom of my monthly newsletters as well.
- Looking Ahead-We will be hosting an Honors Night for incoming 5th graders on Thursday, March 3, 2022. It will be held virtually. More information will come via email.
Have a great month!
Respectfully,
Mrs. Tassin and the Wigwam Creek Staff

- Congratulations to all of our winter athletes. They had a great season and we are so proud all of their hard work!
- A special SHOUT OUT to our Lady Jags basketball team who made it to the playoffs. They had a heartbreaking 3pt loss, but we are so very proud of their effort! Way to go Lady Jags!

Spring Tryouts
Baseball and Softball tryouts will begin the week of February 14th. Students can look on the gym doors and listen to announcements for more information.
Track and Field is open to all grade levels and will begin the week of February 14th. No tryouts are necessary.
Attendance
It is very helpful when parents/guardians call our attendance clerk for absences and tardies. Please be sure to reach out to Mr. Daffern when your child is going to be absent or tardy.
Excused Tardy- An excused tardy refers to any tardy that is excused by a parent/guardian. An excused tardy requires that a parent/guardian is present with their child when signing into school later than the start time of 8:50 am. Per state attendance protocols we cannot excuse a tardy unless the parent is physically present. A note and/or phone call cannot be accepted to excuse your child's late arrival.
Unexcused Tardy-An unexcused tardy refers to any student who arrives at school after 8:50am without a parent/guardian to sign them into school.
Tardies are NOT being assigned to our late bus arrivals.
In order to help deter unexcused tardies, we will be following the handbook's guidelines on excessive tardies.
I appreciate your assistance with this rising concern.
It is very helpful when parents/guardians call our attendance clerk for absences. Please be sure to reach out to Mr. Daffern when your child is going to be absent.

Communication is Essential
We encourage all parents/guardians to keep the lines of communication open. If you have a question do not hesitate to reach out to your child's homeroom teacher and/or advisor for support.
