Salmon Week 13 Update
December 4th -8th
December is Here full of Cheer!!!
Peek at the Week Ahead
We have three weeks until Winter Break. I know it is a busy time filled with excitement and joy. I have been talking with the kids that this is a time to work hard on helping those around us. Our Kindness Elf "Ole" has arrived and each day he is challenging us to one random act of kindness. Some of these may require items from school, but I will give you notice.
Monday, December 4th: Canned Goods for the Food Bank
Reading: We will be reviewing Theme RL.6 and Text Structure RL.5 in the coming weeks. We will be trying to compare and contrast different ways fiction texts are structured (poems, prose and dramas).
Writing: We will continue to write opinion essays using facts from our reading to support our reasoning. This means using the text and cite facts to support our thinking.
Science: We are moving into the second part of Waves and studying light waves. This is a unit that we will complete prior to the Holiday Break.
Social Studies: We will be finishing up the unit on Southeast prior to break. Our focus is understanding the importance of cash crops and the reasons for the Civil War. We also learned about the Civil Right Movement but will also revisit this during February to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
