Newton's Laws of Motion

By: Allison Hasebroock

Newton's 1st Law of Motion

  • An object at rest will stay at rest unless acted on by an outside force.
  • This means that there is a natural tendency of objects to keep doing what their doing.
  • Sometimes referred to as Law of Inertia

Newton's 2nd law

2nd law =Force equals mass times acceleration

Newton's 3rd law of Motion

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction

  • The statement means that in every interaction, there is a pair of forces acting on the two interacting objects.
  • Example ~if a person slams the wall with their fist the force applied by the person through their fist on the wall is equal to the force applied by the wall on the fist
