A Message from the Principal

Hello Wildcat Families,

We are so excited to welcome our students back for in-person learning tomorrow (Monday, January 11th)! Please make sure devices come back charged along with anything else specified by your child's teacher. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me or your child's teacher. Have a GREAT week!

Regards,

Mr. Bezeau

Secretary Changes

Our beloved Mrs. Butkin's time is coming to a close at Weiss as her next chapter in her life is about to begin. If you didn't already know, Mrs. Butkin accepted a position to be the secretary at Carlson High School. I know this decision was extremely difficult for her and she will miss our school dearly. Her last day with us will be January 15th. I know she will be missed by all in our community. If you have free moment this week, please be sure to wish her well and shower her with love. You can email her well-wishes at butkinj@gibdist.net. Mrs. Hunter will be joining our Weiss team as our new secretary on January 19th. Mrs. Hunter emailed Mr. Bezeau recently and shared how excited she is to join our Wildcat team. If you'd like, please consider emailing Mrs. Hunter to welcome her to our school at hunterl@gibdist.net

Lunch Monitor (Paid Position)

We are always looking for caring adults that would love to help our Wildcat students during lunchtime. Our lunch monitors typically work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10:45-1:45 and get paid by the hour. If you would be interested in becoming a Lunch Monitor, please contact Maria from our food service department at 734-379-7619 for more information.

Recess and Cold Weather

Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. Students will continue to go outside for recess. We want to try to get out as much as possible (weather permitting) so students have an opportunity to get some fresh air and energy out. For our parents of little ones: please work with your child so he or she can get their coats, hats, gloves, and boots on independently. This greatly cuts down the time needed to get ready for recess or dismissal.

Specials

Our students will have Art and PE for the next two weeks.

COVID and Close Contact Reporting

Throughout this entire school year, our ability to maintain safe and effective in-person instruction has been reliant on our dedicated instructional staff, strong mitigation practices, and open and consistent communications between home and school. As we enter 2021 and the first week of in-person learning, we want to again stress that it is imperative that positive cases, close contact quarantines, and students awaiting test results are reported to Mr. Bezeau immediately. If you need to notify the school that your child is a close contact, potential close contact, awaiting a test result, or received a positive test result, please email me at:

Derek Bezeau - bezeaud@gibdist.net

or

Call the School Office at 734-379-7060

The school MUST be notified and students should NOT be sent to school if:

  • Anyone in your household is waiting on a COVID test or has tested positive for COVID.

  • If your child has been in close contact with a person waiting on a COVID test or who has tested positive for COVID.

  • If your child is awaiting COVID test results or has tested positive for COVID.

Beyond these scenarios, if your child does not pass any element of the home screener, he or she MUST stay home, and the school must be notified.

Thank you so much for your continued partnership and helping our school stay open for in-person learning.
