We are so excited for all of our new friends that have joined us in 2nd grade! This year is going to be filled with lots of fun adventures and laughter. We invite you to join us on our adventure of positive energy! Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

-Please make sure to read with your child to build up their fluency and comprehension skills.
-Transportation changes need to be called into the front office.
-Sign up for Remind to get important updates and reminders from your students teacher.
-If you have any questions or concerns, contact your student's teacher.
-We love celebrating student birthdays!! In 2nd grade we will celebrate at the end of the day starting at 2:30 (only store bought cupcakes or treats).
Family Focus
This year we are taking more of a family focused approach to homework. We believe that spending quality family time is vital in the success of your student. We will provide family friendly, engaging homework activities and assignments. We would love if you would send us pictures of these activities and share them with us.
This weeks Family focus:
Shapes are all around us! Find 2D and 3D shapes in your home and community. Send your teacher a picture for a prize!
Academics
Words can have ed and ing added to change the verb to present or past tense. The sound of the vowel or ending letter can change how the word is spelled.
Reading: This week we are focusing on the different elements of poetry and creating our own poems.
ELA: We are learning about adjectives- words used to describe nouns.
Math:We will continue looking at 2D and 3D shapes and identifying attitudes.
Science: Students will be learning about Fresh and saltwater and compare them.
Social Studies: Students will discuss the functions and responsibilities of the government.

The best way to get logged into these resources is to go to the Red Oak ISD website.
At the top click on students
Then scroll down to where it says sign into class link (maroon Tab with white letters)
Students will only need to log into that, then they will automatically be logged into the resources without having to remember so many different passwords.

Dreambox- work on math content areas at their individual level
Xtramath.com- work on fact fluency
Myon- students have access to online books
Storyline online- students are able listen to stories
