Glows and Grows

Glows: Bravo to those who have already committed to small group instruction and have groups set up and many thanks to those that have spent some time preparing students for the routines and expectations of running small group instruction. Also, I was able to see a fantastic math lesson during a 2nd grade room visit this week. The students were working through math writing. The teacher had an objective specifically for math WRITING, a rubric, and the students were understanding/defending their scores, and revising responses. Wowzers!

Grows: How do you instill a sense of joy in the learning that takes place in your classroom or work space?

NWEA MAP Goal Setting

The MAP TEST Administration window for Fall 2019 continues to be open. As scores roll in, please make sure you are reviewing the data (ask for help if you need it), talking with colleagues, and most importantly setting some intermediate goals for students to strive for over the next few months.

Please note that the MAP reports page has changed a bit. I think they do a better of job of previewing the reports available to you.

MTSS Tier One Plan

Our School Leadership met this week to review something called the FIA (Fidelity Intergrity Assessment). The FIA looks at major areas of MTSS implementation. We specifically established a baseline for site leadership systems, academic instruction and intervention, and behavior systems and instruction. Our site scored a 53% on the areas we assessed. The major areas of strength include leadership (school wide/teacher/etc.) and in behavior systems. WE scored low in systems related to academic instruction and intervention. The major issue seemed to be systematic review of data to drive instruction and implementation of interventions. WE will continue to meet and plan in those areas.

Our Tier One Plan for behavior for Sept./Oct. is here!

Check them out! September is focused on building relationships and making bonds with students. Please feel free to share the successes you've had in this area.

October is focused on recognizing students with Paw Prides and Good News Referrals. Both are available in the staff workroom. Remember, students put Paw Prides in the Paw Pride box on the stage. Good News Referrals come back to me in the office. Students can visit and hand them in and I will recognize them personally.
