3K & Early Childhood Update

This week was all about purple! We loved learning our new purple song as well as Way Up High in an Apple Tree and 5 Little Pumpkins. The children had so much fun making applesauce, and it sure tasted delicious!

4K Update

This week in 4K, we are learned about Fire Safety. Our Prairie du Chien Fire Department came in an did a presentation on Thursday. We started our Farm to School Program today and started our Jolly Phonics program this week with the sound "S". Each sound has an action and song that goes along with it. We will be learning one sound each week until we get through the whole alphabet. We also worked with shapes this week and did the Shapes Hokey Pokey, which the students really enjoyed!

Kindergarten News

The kindergartners are fired up for fire safety. This week we learned about fire safety tips from stop, drop, and roll, to making fire escape plans for our homes. Thursday we were visited by the Prairie du Chien Fire Department and learned more about what to do in case of an emergency. We continue to learn new sounds in Jolly Phonics and are working on 10 frames and shape recognition in Everyday Math. We also completed our Fall PALS Assessments (Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening). Next week is looking bright as well, as we will be jumping into Halloween Themes and reviewing color words.

1st Grade Update

1st graders enjoyed Fire Prevention and the first Food 4 Thought this week. In reading, we worked on correct use of possessives and read about how animals and people move. In math, we got to explore using calculators and learned about labeling uniboxes. A unibox provides a label to an item. For example, if given the number 5, we don't know what 5 represents until the unit is labeled. In our Positive Action lessons, we talked about what families say or do to make a family member feel special. It's been a great week in 1st grade!
