From the Principal's Desk

I hope you all had a wonderful Spring Break. I know our staff enjoyed some rest and fun. We’ll all be back tomorrow morning ready to finish the year strong. We’ve got a lot of learning remaining between now and June 8th.

I’m sending a final reminder of an informational meeting we are hosting surrounding the continuum of services we offer based on district, state and federal policies and requirements. The meeting will be held on May 3rd at 5:30 at Chatham Grove.

If you haven't done so already, please RSVP here for each guest attending by April 25th so we have an accurate headcount to help us identify our best meeting spot in our school.

At the meeting, we plan to discuss:

  • Tier 1, 2, and 3 services

  • The differences between Tier 1, 2, 3, and Exceptional Children (EC) services

  • The differences between 504 and EC services

  • The inclusion model & the concept of least restrictive environment

  • We will review expectations surrounding the continuum of services.

This year kindergarten registration is online. You will be able to register at home or we will have computers available in the main office if you need support in registering your child. Families will also need to bring in a copy of their child's birth certificate, immunization records, and proof of residency to complete the registration process.

Each week, we will be highlighting some of our K-5 students for receiving a shout-out from someone in the school community. We are so proud of these students for exemplifying CHOMPS expectations throughout the school! Below are the shout-outs for the week of April 11th. Great job, gators!

From the Counselors

The cafeteria staff is a small but mighty team that could use parent volunteers to help with breakfast and lunch service.

Please sign up if you can assist, they are super appreciative of the support:

Attendance/Appointment Reminders

Students arriving late or leaving early for an appointment will need to turn in a doctor’s note for the absence or tardy to be excused.

Early check out during school hours ends at 2:30pm.

Camp Invention

Camp Invention is full for campers this summer!! Camp will take place here at Chatham Grove June 13-17 from 8am-4pm. We still need 3 more middle school students to help as Leaders in Training and 3 more high school or college students to work as Leadership Interns (high school and college age). Leadership Interns will be paid a flat rate of $150 (new) or $175 (returning) and can get recommendation letters for college and/or future jobs.

We are also looking for more parent volunteers to help with lunch and managing the supply room. Please note that all parent volunteers will need to fill out Chatham County's volunteer form. Parent Volunteers will receive a discount code to receive $130 off up to 2 campers or $30 off up to 2 Leaders in Training which can be refunded if you have already registered your child. Let me know if you are interested!
