Roadrunners, Let's Stay Connected
Crystal Springs Elementary School
The Weekly Wrap by Principal Nielsen- October 2nd
Dear Crystal Springs Families,
Supply Pick-up day will be on Wednesday and Thursday of next week. We are trying to have a supply pick-up day once a month for your child to have all the materials they need to be successful. We are offering two times this month- Wednesday (the 7th) from 9:00-11:00 am and Thursday (the 8th) from 4:00-6:00 pm. Your child's name will be on the supply bag, so, please have your child's name and teacher on a piece of paper and put it on your dashboard to help the process go smoothly! Thank you for your help!
Mrs. Weber, our school librarian, has been working hard on the book requests that have been coming in! I want to thank her for all of her hard work. Keep filling out those book orders. For more information: Library Book Pick-up/Delivery and a link to her webpage with info: https://sites.google.com/apps.nsd.org/crystal-springs-library-page/library-book-delivery
Sincerely,
Anne Nielsen- Principal

Free Meals
Beginning Wednesday, September 9, Northshore School District is offering free meals for all children ages 18 and younger. Students do not need to be enrolled in the Northshore School District to receive meals.
Apply for Free & Reduced Price Meals Today
While Northshore is currently providing free meals, this support is made possible by temporary USDA funding. If this funding changes, the District may be required to charge families based on their current eligibility for meals. Have you applied for free and reduced-price meals this year?
If your family qualified last year, you need to reapply this year to ensure that your student receives free or reduced price meals once the current free meals program ends. It is important to apply today so that your eligibility status doesn’t lapse. If an application is not in process for a returning student by October 14, 2020, the student’s account will automatically be transferred to a paid account on the next school day. Please know that the number of eligible students for free and reduced price meals connects to the District’s Title I funding, which provides additional support at schools to help students succeed.
Additionally, if your family income has decreased, you may be eligible for free or reduced-price school meals.
In addition to receiving free or reduced-price meals, your eligibility also provides:
- Reduced fee for Camp Cedar Springs
- Reduced fee for PSAT and Advanced Placement Testing
- Reduced fee for sports/athletics
- Reduced fee for summer school
- Access to Backpack Program, which provides backpacks and school supplies
- Access to Operation School Bell, which provides clothes and personal products

Highly Capable Testing
This is a message from the Northshore Highly Capable Department.
We want to remind you that we are currently accepting referrals for highly capable testing for the 2020-2021 school year. Eligibility would begin in the 2021-2022 school year. Our referral window closes Friday, October 16th. We intend to universally screen grades K, 1, and 5. If your child qualifies for testing after they are universally screened, we will need your permission to test for highly capable services. Below is a link to our website for testing and referral information.
If your student is currently single qualified (ie: reading OR math only), we need your permission to test them in the second content area. If your student is NOT currently qualified in either content area, we need your permission to screen AND test (grades 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7).
If you are a dual qualified student, you do NOT need to refer your student. You are already qualified. You also do NOT need to complete the permission to participate form if you have already done so for this calendar year.
