Dear Muskego Lakes Families,
Our school is scheduled to take the Forward Exam the mornings of Tuesday, April 19 through Friday, April 22.
The Forward Exam assesses student performance in the areas of English Language Arts and Mathematics for students in Grades 3 through 8, in Science in Grades 4 and 8, and in Social Studies in Grades 4, 8, and 10. The Forward Exam is an online assessment, which utilizes multiple-choice and written responses to assess student knowledge. To minimize time out of class, during the testing window identified above, it is very important that your son or daughter be in school. Please avoid making any appointments on these dates. Students not in school on testing days will be scheduled for a make-up test prior to the close of the testing window.
Students are asked to bring corded headphones on all testing dates. Bluetooth headphones, such as AirPods, are not permitted to be used during testing.
Linked below is the brochure from the state, which provides additional detailed information about the assessment including its purpose, what scores will be provided, and how the scores will be used.
The Forward Exam measures the knowledge and skills your student(s) should have acquired by the time they reach each grade level. Their performance on the assessment will not affect any of their current grades. Please encourage your son or daughter to take the test seriously and do the best they can. The results of these tests may be used to help school staff make determinations or placement in classes to best support your child(ren).

Benadryl Challenge
The District has learned of incidents in which local youth have consumed Benadryl at higher than recommended doses in order to experience a sense of euphoria. These incidents have resulted in hospitalizations. Given the ease of access to this substance, the District encourages you to have conversations with your children regarding the dangers of consuming medications at a higher than recommended dose. If you are interested in learning more about the effects of Benadryl, please follow this LINK.
Muskego Lakes Dance Support Needed
This event will be announced to all students during homeroom on Monday. The Student Council needs your help in order to make this event happen. The Graduation Planning Committee wants to get things started so that we can put together something extra memorable for our children as we close the chapter on Muskego Lakes Middle School. We want to include EVERY classmate in the slide show. If you could please help us out with a couple of items:
**We do understand that some parents may not want their child in the slide show and may have signed a waiver at the beginning of the school year to not have pictures or video taken of their child. If you DO NOT want your child in the slide show please send an email to MLMSClassof2026@gmail.com and we will abide by your wishes. We are using the email you send as your waiver.

We reserve the right not to use all photos that are sent in, depending on how the project develops. All photos need to be submitted no later than Saturday, April 30. I will be taking pictures in the homerooms. All 8 th graders will be included in the slideshow, unless otherwise communicated.

Mid-Week Munchies for Staff at MLMS
Speak Up, Speak Out Wisconsin
Our staff at Muskego Lakes take threats seriously. We are grateful for our partnership with students and parents as they continue to be invested in their school culture as we all work together to keep our schools safe. We encourage all families to talk about how a child should respond to any threat or concern, regardless of the source or legitimacy. If a student or parent is not comfortable going directly to a district staff member, they can use Wisconsin's Speak Up, Speak Out that will notify a school administrator and/or police authorities immediately. Speak Up, Speak Out! Speak Up, Speak Out is managed by the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of School Safety.
You may make a report by visiting the website, using your smartphone by downloading the SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT app from the Apple Store and Google Play, or by calling 1-800-MY-SUSO-1 to speak to a resource center analyst.
