I hope this December newsletter finds you well. As you can see the format for our newsletter has changed and we would love your feedback. Please feel free to click on the suggestion box button below to share your thoughts our newsletter platform.
We have been so busy at Lincoln Elementary and there are so many great learning experiences happening for students. If you weren't aware we have these things called "Bolts." A bolt is an award given to students for going above and beyond.
When a student receives a bolt, they get the following form completed identifying just what it was they were recognized for doing. The bolt form (shown below) is printed with a duplicate. Dr. Job and I recieve the duplicate copy of the bolt. When we do, we go to to the student, take their photo and ask them to share with us how they earned the bolt. We share our congrats and their photo is placed on our Wall of Fame in the foyer of the school. If you haven't seen it, stop by sometime. The recognition does not stop there.
We believe that parents do not hear often enough how great their children are. Therefore, we make phone calls home to share our congrats. Any finally, when the students receive their first bolt, they get recognized at our monthly celebration assembly and receive their bolt pin (pictured above).
PTO Meeting December 6th at 6:30
Please join us at our next parent-teacher meeting on Tuesday, December 6th at 6:30 in the B Wing Discovery Center. It is best to park in the east parking lot and walk across the playground area to the door between the building and portables. Enter through door #3. There will be free child care provided during the meeting.
The agenda for December will include finalizing the date for the Cocoa with Santa, scheduling the Knights and Princesses dances, determining chairpersons for those events, and reviewing the amendments to the PTO Bylaws.
We want to remind you, every Lincoln Elementary parent/guardian, staff member, and teacher is automatically a member of the PTO. We encourage everyone to attend meetings and become involved so we can continue to plan and hold some very fun Lincoln events!
You can find all the information including agendas, minutes, meeting dates, etc. at our PTO page on the Lincoln Elementary website.
Lincoln Lightning Food Drive
Our Student Council continues to support those in need. They have decided that this year we will support both the Lloyd Spetz Post No. 1 American Legion Open Your Heart Campaign AND the Lincoln Food Pantry. In an effort to make this event super fun, the student council has created a friendly competition. Team Lincoln (grades 1, 3 & 5) versus Team Lightning (grades K, 2 & 4). All donated items will be weighed and split between Open Your Heart and the Lincoln Food Pantry. The competition will run from November 28th through December 16th.
Non-perishable food item donation ideas could include, but are not limited to:
canned soup, beans, fruit, vegetables, etc.
canned chicken or tuna
pasta/ramen
canned pasta sauce
rice
Dress for the Weather
It is important for our students to be dressed for the weather. Remember that students will go outside for recess as long as the temperature/wind chill is above -15°F. Please be sure your child wears the appropriate clothing to school each day. Weather Policies
Art From the Heart
Lincoln After School Art Club will be held December 2, 9 & 16 from 3:05 to 5:00. You can find more information on Art From the Hearts Facebook page linked HERE. The cost is $30 per artist for December and there is a limit of 25 students during this and each additional session. Each month will begin a new session and registrations will take place for each session.
Lost and Found
We have a tremendous amount of clothing items along with lunch boxes, water bottles and other miscellaneous items left behind in our lost & found already, even though we are only a month into our school year! Please remind your child to check the lost & found area located near door 4 by the gym. Over Christmas break, items will be donated. Parents, please feel welcome to take a look the next time you are at Lincoln.
