Updates/Reminders
-Parent Conference week is coming up this week! Students will have an early dismissal all week long at 12:00. I look forward to meeting with you!
-Our room parents have set up a class Shutterfly account and really need your assistance with signing up for volunteer positions/uploading pictures throughout the year. Please visit the site at:
We Studied:
During math we continued studying chapter 5 on multiplication/division facts. Students need to be able to know their facts through twelve. Any extra practice through games, flashcards, websites, apps, etc, will really help them with this. If you have an ipad at home, Sushi Monster is an app. that we have been using in class to practice their facts that students really like. Also consider using a deck of cards to play the game of "War' with students (ask them to teach you this). A website students can go to practice their math facts is: http://www.oswego.org/ocsd-web/games/mathmagician/maths1.html
Throughout writing students continued their personal narrative on a time when they were scared and started their imaginative "spooky tale." Students used rubrics and graphic organizers to help them plan their narrative. They are currently in the process of revising their work. Please remember that students may need to go on Google Drive at home to finish their work. They can download the Google Drive app on their ipads at home (if they have one) or go to "drive.google.com" on any computer. Then they'll need to type in their username and password (on their password paper) but should be:
Username: firstnamelastname@sbsd.k12.ca.us
Password: fourdigitssolana
Our class finished their "Photo Card" project on their ipads in Social Studies and started their next unit on "Early Californians." Students will not have a formal paper test for this chapter but instead will have a performance based assessment where they will research a tribe and create an imovie on their findings. They are very excited about this!
Students also continued to go to Ms. Leventhal's class for their study of the government unit (part of the fourth grade science/social studies rotations).
Have a Great Weekend!
