K-12 Virtual Registration

Please use this form to register for ASD's K-12 high-quality cyber option for your child for the first quarter.

Based on our Opening of Schools Family Survey many families indicated a concern about their students returning to school in fall. In order to address these concerns, ASD will offer a high-quality cyber option for our students K-12. At this time we are allowing families to opt into this high-quality cyber option for the first quarter of school (September 8, 2020 - November 11, 2020). You will have an opportunity within the survey to indicate if you prefer to remain in this program beyond November.

This information will help District leaders to finalize plans to reopen our buildings this fall.

Registro virtual K-12

We share your concerns about all of our students falling behind during this prolonged absence. We also understand the need for the high quality instruction in a structured learning environment that only our teachers can provide. The Allentown School District is putting together a formal "continuity of education" plan that will be released soon. The plan includes an on online distance learning component for our students.

Muhlenberg's teachers and staff are ready and eager to support our families and students in any way possible. Keep an eye out for further communication from the Allentown School District in the near future regarding online distance learning! Please do not hesitate to reach out at any time. Midday with Muhlenberg resumes on Tuesday, April 14 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m!

New enrichment materials have been posted to the Allentown School District as of website Wednesday, April 1. Printed copies of these newly posted materials (K-12) will again be available on Thursday, April 2 between 10 AM and 2 PM at all ASD elementary schools. If you come to Muhlenberg Elementary School, go to Door 10.

As you may be aware, COVID-19 cases continue to grow and the state continues to seek relief to save lives and stop the spread of COVID-19. We ask that all families comply with the governor’s Stay At Home order. Families should not come to the school to obtain packets if they have high speed internet and a connected device. At no time will you be asked to submit these enrichment materials for grading or other documentation purposes.

If it is necessary for you to pick up a packet, make sure to follow the directions on the signs posted on site. Make sure you are practicing social distancing at all times.

What is social distancing?:

  • social distancing means staying away from close contact in public spaces. It includes actions like staying out of places where lots of people gather and maintaining distance — approximately 6 feet — from others.

  • Social distancing also includes minimizing contact with people by avoiding public transportation when possible, limiting nonessential travel, working from home, and skipping social gatherings.

  • All Pennsylvanians should practice social distancing — not just those who are seriously ill or at high risk.

  • Social distancing is a proven way to slow the spread of pandemics.

More Read Across America Week Activities!

This past week, Mrs. Fluke’s class celebrated Read Across America week by inviting a few mystery readers to come in and read to the students. We had the pleasure of having Mrs. Albright join our class on Thursday and read the Butter Battles to us. The class then had the opportunity to have their own butter battle one half were the Yooks and the other were the Zooks. Each team had two jars of heavy cream and had to take turns shaking the jars until butter was made. The team that had shaken the jars enough to make butter first won! Both teams ended up tying! After the butter war we celebrated by enjoying some bread and butter!

Christ Redeemer Church has graciously decided to donate 32 headphones for our kindergarten classrooms (each teacher receiving 8). We have been really struggling with our computers without the use of headphones so we are so grateful for their generosity. In addition they have purchased a subscription to the Math proponent of Starfall for each teacher so we have that access to utilize during Math Work Stations. They continue to provide napkins, wipes, coloring books, tissues, and napkins throughout the year whenever we request the need. We feel so blessed to have this support from the community and just wanted to let you know what they are doing to help us in kindergarten.

School-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention Support (SWPBIS)

What is SWPBIS? School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports is a school-wide behavior program that Muhlenberg Elementary School will continue to use this year. A committee of teachers and school staff developed what our school plan would look like. The goal is to improve the school learning environment by focusing on positive behaviors.

School rules and expectations were taught and modeled to students and behavior will be tracked on a classroom color chart and on a chart-on-the-go. Students will earn classroom activity time and school-wide incentives based on their daily behavioral choices and clip movement on these charts (as described on this sheet).

Our September incentive is an ice cream sundae party with Mr. Fries. We are asking our families for donations to make our party a success. Please click the link to sign up!

We are looking forward for our first meeting of the new school year on Monday, September 16th at 9:00 a.m. All families are welcome! During this month's meeting, we will be planning the October Fall Festival!
