Summit SPARKS News
Dear Summit Road STEM Families,
I hope all of you are able to stay safe and warm on these extreme winter days! We've had a few days away from school due to weather, but our teachers continue to work hard to keep the learning going for students when they are in class. Please make sure to remind your student to dress appropriately for the weather, as it likes to change frequently.
On February 14th we will celebrate Heart Fest and have our Heart Healthy parties during the school day. Please see below for more information about Heart Fest and look for information from your student's teacher about the parties. There will be no school on Friday Feb. 15 and Monday Feb. 18. Looking ahead, please save the date for the 2019 STEM Night which will be held on April 17th. With a new date, we're hoping to bring some new experiences this year for families to learn and enjoy and spark their curiosity. We hope you'll be able to join us!
Thank you for your continued support as we enter February,
Chinese Lion Dance
Students were treated to a traditional Chinese Lion Dance and the enthusiasm was incredible.
Our first grade stembots celebrated the 100th day. They had various activities to do to show their skills in counting to 100!
Engineers Visit Summit
2nd grade students had some special guests teach them different the types of engineering.

Heart Fest Information
During our Heart Fest we will have stations that educate our students about our heart, activity stations that “workout” the heart, as well as some stations where students will explore the heart, blood and challenge us to try some things that promote heart health…throughout this day I am hoping the children might be inspired to adopt heart healthy choices.
How can you help?!...we are in need of a few adult volunteers!
Volunteers would be in charge of helping run stations, cutting up fruit and veggies, distributing water and discussing healthy drink options…in the morning and afternoons as the classes rotate to each activity. If you would be willing to help out, please click HERE
Stations will be assigned the day of the heart fest when you arrive.
Do you have a special skill or training that you could lead on this day?...we are looking for a chef, a dentist or nutrition specialist who would love to lead us in an activity!! (please email me at email@example.com to discuss your talents you would like to share with us!)
Thanks for your time,
Physical Education teacher
