Here is what Cassidy has to say about this story:
When I was 13, I was dealing with some difficult situations and making poor choices. In an attempt to help with this, my mom sent me to Second Nature: Blue Ridge in the Georgia mountains. I hiked for 6 weeks in sweltering, humid weather. During this time, there were no showers, bathrooms, or communication with the outside world. As much as I hated it at the time, I went back home with more confidence and a completely different mindset! (And a severe case of food poisoning!) I can also still make my own bow drill from poplar bark and bust embers for a fire. Thanks, mom!
