Beginning of the Year Reminders!

2018-2019

A Note From The Principal!

Welcome back to school! It is our goal to continue the success that our students have attained over the past years. We believe with our dedication to high quality, research-based best practices that every student will learn to full potential. I ask for your support and participation in this effort by sending your child to school every day, encouraging him/her to read for pleasure at least 30 minutes every night, monitoring homework and progress, and asking your child to share what they learned at school each day. Finally, we urge you to become involved at Haynesfield! Support from our parents is vital to the success of our school. I strongly encourage you to be involved in your child’s education by joining the PTA and volunteering at our school. Together, we can ensure your child is successful.

Communication is important to us! We send home information about events each week in student Take Home Tuesday Folders. From time to time we must send home important information with students outside the Tuesday Folder, so it is a good idea to check backpacks daily. Other places for news and information include the school website, Remind texts, Facebook, Twitter, and automated or personal phone calls and emails to all parents, so it is important we have current phone numbers and email addresses.

My door is always open to you as I want to be a resource to your family. I encourage you to contact your child’s teacher if you have questions about classroom expectations, homework, or any aspect of your child’s day. I hope that Haynesfield Elementary exceeds your expectations this year!

Safety Procedures

Attendance Matters

Attendance is essential for the progress of a student at school. The following are some rules/regulations to remember regarding the district attendance policy. Make sure to pay close attention to this section of your handbook which will come home with your student soon.

-Anyone arriving after the school day has started are required to check in through the office.

-If students need to leave school early, parents/guardians should sign those students out through the office

-Provide a doctor's excuse when possible

-A total of 5 absences will be excused, for reasons listed on page 4 of the handbook, based on parent/guardian notification via call-in, email, or note. Once the limit (5) has been reached, parents/guardians will receive a letter requiring doctor's excuses for future absences.

-A maximum of 3 days will be available for family cultural/educational activities annually. Forms are available in the office and on our school website.

-After an accumulation of 3 unexcused absences, a student will enter into Tier 1 for attendance interventions which will include a conference with an attendance supervisor or designee and an attendance contract.
