The Veins By Jackson Cross
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
The veins look like branches on a tree or maybe even tangled cords
LOCATION
the location of veins is everywhere in the body really because it has to be able to get the blood back to the heart
ANOTHER ORGAN
Arteries It is the job of the arteries to carry blood away from the heart. Arteries are equipped with thick walls, smooth muscle and very elasticized tissue. .
5 FACTS ABOUT MY ORGAN
2. Veins are usually closer to the skin than arteries
3. De-oxygenated blood is transfered to the veins to the heart through venules
4. Vein walls are made up of 3 things, membranous tissue, smooth muscle and connective tissue
5. The veins throughout the body support many systems and are important for cardiovascular health and many functions of blood.
5 FACTS ABOUT MY DEPARTMENT
2. Within a small drop of blood there is about 5 million blood cells
3. It takes 20 seconds for a blood cell to circulate the body
4. Blood that is rich in oxygen is red while in poor oxygen it is blue
5. The heart is surrounded by a sack called the pericardium
MAIN PURPOSE OF BODY SYSTEM
To deliver food (nutrients) from the gut to the cell of the body.
To take CO2 from the cells of the body to the lungs (where it changes from dissolved ions to gas)
To transport hormones and blood proteins (such as platelets).
This is all done by the pumping action of the heart in order to pump blood through the arteries, capillaries and veins, around the body.
