The Latest Information from JMMS

Please scroll down through this edition of the JMMS Updates for the latest info.

  • Home Access Center is now open with 1st Marking Period Grades!

  • Deliveries: Please refrain from dropping off items at the Main Office to be delivered to your child throughout the school day. It is challenging to get items delivered to classrooms and is an interruption to the work being completed in that class. Part of the growing experience that happens in Middle School is taking on the responsibility of remembering what's needed for school every day. Thank you for your help in this area!

  • Vision and Hearing Screenings: Ohio law requires school districts to complete a vision screening for all 7th grade students. All new students to the district must have a vision and hearing screening completed. Screenings will be performed starting in October through the end of the year. Parents have the option to opt out of the screenings this year. If you would prefer that your child not be screened, you can find the waiver form on the Jackson school website under the Forms and Documents tab. Please complete and return the attached Vision & Hearing Screening Waiver as soon as possible. Any student who does not have a waiver on file will be screened. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the school clinic. Thank you!

  • Important info: As many of you are already aware, there have been different "challenges" circulating on Social Media over the past few months encouraging students to make poor choices and disruptive behavior. While we do not wish to put a spotlight on any of these behaviors, we do want to make sure our parents are aware and encourage you to have conversations with your child about the ramifications of taking part in any of these acts. Our student code of conduct is found on pages 50-53 of the JMMS Student Handbook.

  • As a reminder, the safest way for a student to depart the building is on a school bus or via parent pick-up. Should you choose to allow your child to walk from school, please remind them of the importance of following all traffic laws as they walk from the building and be respectful of others' property. Thank you for your assistance with this!

  • Is your student looking for announcements?: Daily announcements are always available for our students online by navigating to this link.

"Do you have your ID badge?"

Please ensure that your child has their ID badge for school each day and is wearing it on a lanyard around their neck.

Students are NOT to carry their ID badges in their pocket or in their Chromebook.

Students CAN wear a different lanyard if they so choose (as long as it is school appropriate).

Thank you for your support with our building security at JMMS!

Do you have your Chromebook?

As we head into the second nine weeks of school, it is very important for students to bring their Chromebooks with them (charged) to school every day. This is the time of year when our thoughts turn to the upcoming holiday season. For many of us, it is a time of planning, shopping and tending to all the details to make it a celebration for our families. For others, it is a time of stress and worry as they wonder how they will afford the simple joys of a holiday feast or gifts for their children.

There are many out there who want to help. We want to help.

Please fill out this form to request assistance for the upcoming holiday season. Your response is confidential and you will be contacted by your family support specialist to get the help you need.

There are also two community agencies who require early registration to get help- See the attached flyers for information on Thanksgiving baskets and A Community Christmas

Jackson Local Schools Backpack Food Program

We are pleased to be able to offer The Backpack Food Program, in partnership with RiverTree Jackson. This is a service for families in the Jackson Local School district with students in K-12. The goal of this program is to send home a variety of easy, ready-to-eat meals and snacks for your child to have over the weekend. There is absolutely no cost to our families to join this program. The bags will be delivered to your child’s school weekly, and sent home with students on the last day of the week that students are in school, usually Fridays.

Our first distribution will take place on Friday, September 10. You may choose to participate at any time, but registration is needed by the Thursday of the week before, so for the first week, the deadline would be on Thursday, September 2.

This program is intended for families whose children are eligible for free/reduced meals. However, we understand some families may not be eligible for the free/reduced meal program, but are still in need of food. If you would like to opt in, please fill out the google form linked below (one for each student). Please know, all information you share with us is kept in the strictest confidence.
