What a great first week of school! Having students back in the building reminds those of us that worked the summer in a quiet building why we are here. Students seemed happy to be back seeing their friends, laughing with their teachers, and jumping right into learning. The fall is a busy time, so I would encourage you to keep a close eye on future newsletters and take particular notice of the Important Dates section at the bottom.

This week most activities start up in a flurry. Make sure to check out our website for updates on games, performances, and other fun WHS events!

Back to school night

Our back to school night will take place on Thursday, September 29th, from 6:00pm-8:00pm. The night will include families following their student's schedule, giving them a chance to meet their student's teachers. The night is an exciting opportunity to get to know your student's teachers but will not include a chance to sit and meet about your student's individual needs. Teachers are happy to discuss your student's needs, individually, by emailing to schedule an appointment.

Add/Drop Period begins Thursday, September 15th

I would also like to remind you of our updated Add/Drop procedure. No changes to schedules will be made between the 1st and 7th days of school. During the Add/Drop Period (September 15-23), changes to student schedules will be made under the following conditions:

1. Student receives written permission from the teacher, the curriculum coordinator, and their parent/guardian. Students should obtain the appropriate form in Guidance.

2. The courses being exchanged occur during the same scheduled block during the day.

3. The courses being exchanged will not be over/under-enrolled due to the student's departure or arrival in the course.

You are strongly encouraged to review your schedule as soon as possible and communicate with your school counselor before the first day of school if you have any questions about your schedule or are considering any changes.

Students in 9th grade will be participating in iReady testing on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. The test doesn't require any preparation and is used for benchmarking how students grow throughout the year. Students will report to the gymnasium to take the test. We will let them know when.

Late start!

Grades 9 and 12 will have a late start on October 12th to accommodate all 10th and 11th graders taking the PSAT. Students in grade 9 and 12 should report to school at 11:30am.
