STEM Robotics
Three STEM Robotics teams competed in the USI/ASME competition on Saturday, April 6th. The underwater adventure themed event included challenges to navigate through a cavern, decide the safest route, avoid a volcano, move air tanks, avoid the kraken eggs in their nest and activate a sonic beacon. By participating in the USI/ASME Robotics Competition, they had fun, met new people, used their engineering and programming skills, and accomplished their goals while demonstrating what it means to have Raider PRIDE!
Classroom Activities
Second-grade students in Mrs. Hurst's class are studying about McMurdo Station, a small city and scientific research workplace in Antarctica. The students observed sea ice (saltwater) and sky ice (freshwater). Then, they recorded their findings to determine the differences based on appearance, hardness, weight, temperature, texture, smell and taste (optional). They used their findings to discuss the formation of brinicles and to make predictions about weather change and refreezing the salty brine.
Kindergarten Happenings
Ms. Kaetzel's class used shapes to make pictures of real objects.
Ms. Kaetzel's class read The Easter Bunny's Assistant and followed directions for dying eggs. They also read sight words on eggs and filled our baskets.
Jane Whitsitt visited this week to talk about farm animals with all the kindergarten classes.
Miss Jane Whitsitt visited Mrs. Rasche's class and spoke about different farm animals and their babies! The kids loved it!
