What is a Concussion?
temporary unconsciousness caused by a blow to the head, also used loosely of the aftereffects such as confusion or temporary incapacity
Symptoms
- Headache or a feeling of pressure in the head
- Temporary loss of consciousness
- Confusion or feeling as if in a fog
- Amnesia surrounding the traumatic event
- Dizziness or "seeing stars"
- Ringing in the ears
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Slurred speech
- Delayed response to questions
- Appearing dazed
- Fatigue
Field Treatment
- wearing protective gear during sports or other recreational activities
- exercising regularly
- educating others about concussions
Prevention
- wearing protective gear during sports or other recreational activities

- educating others about concussions
Hospital Treatment
- symptoms will likely improve in 7 to 10 days
- call your doctor if symptoms persist or worsen
