June 2023

From the Principal
Hello Jefferson Families,
June has arrived and we are down to our final few weeks of school. This will be our final Charger Newsletter of the school year, however, communications and updates as needed will come home via emails and phone calls in June, July and August.
I’m guessing you’ve had a similar experience to me, where the first day of school seemed like so long ago (remember the smoky days in the fall?). In other regards, the first day felt like it was just yesterday, with the year flying by at a fast pace. Regardless of how one views the school year, we are approaching the finish line, and as a staff, we are expecting and encouraging our students to finish strong. To that end, we returned from Memorial Day weekend emphasizing our Charger Code. In particular, we revisited and recommitted to our expectations in three main areas of the school: hallways, entryways and restrooms. This is all part of our continued effort to have clear and consistent expectations for each student at Jefferson.
The week before Memorial Day saw our third, fourth and fifth graders conclude their state testing, and we are extremely proud of them for giving their best effort. Our fifth graders also enjoyed a fabulous outdoor education camp experience at Camp Kiloqua in Stanwood. Now with June here, we are excited for some fun end of the year events. A couple things I want to highlight includ Field Day on June 16th at 9:30am (would love to have your volunteer-see details below), and the return of former Jefferson students who are graduating seniors for our senior grad walk on June 15th at 2:45pm (please help spread the word to Everett High, Cascade High and graduating seniors from other High Schools that attended Jefferson). Many other exciting things will be happening in June to celebrate the school year.
Please note Friday, June 9th will be a 1:00 release. Teachers will spend the afternoon preparing report cards. You can expect to receive your child’s report card on Wednesday, June 21st, when they bring it home in their back pack.
As we head into summer, it is important to me I remind us all to be safety conscious in the water. Over the course of my career in education, I’ve had two former students pass away by drowning. Please make sure to be vigilant when it comes to your child’s swim safety this summer.
In final thoughts, please accept my heartfelt thanks to the entire Jefferson community for a great 2022-23 school year. We have accomplished a great deal, and there is much to celebrate. I honor our students, staff, families, and volunteers. Thank you again for a wonderful year.
With gratitude,
Steve Hopkins

News From the Music Room
Dear Jefferson families,
Thank you for your support at our successful Spring Concerts. The students did a fantastic job showcasing their hard work and talent. As we approach the end of the school year, I am proud of our students' accomplishments. Miss. Rivera, our teaching intern, has taken over the classroom and learned valuable lessons from our Chargers. We wish her the best in her future job.
Whether it's your first or sixth year at Jefferson, know that I'm proud of you and look forward to seeing you again. Have a wonderful summer. Check out our Choice Board for musical summer activities.
Remember, you can access our digital curriculum at home through https://musicplayonline.com/student-login/. Use the access code: d563078. Find the songs we learned and class games. The music Canvas pages also provide learning opportunities.
Thank you for your support. Have a joyful and relaxing summer.
Kind Regards,
Mrs. Rockwell
